He came to this country in May, 1855, and located at the Brockett's Bridge, now Dolgeville. After remaining here three years, Mr. Lally made a few changes and eventually located in Salisbury upon 280 acres of dairy land which he purchased. This farm he kept for five years, then sold. He continued to engage in farming in Salisbury and Manheim for several years. About four years ago he moved into Little Falls. In February, 1892, he was elected commissioner of highways upon the Democrat ticket. Mr. Lally married Mary Lally, and they have five children, as follows: John, James, Edward, Daniel and William.
