The result of fifty-seven years' industry is that he has secured to himself a comfortable competency and is able in his later years to life free from care and enjoy his well-earned repose. He is a man of fine intellect, considering his opportunities, and has always been highly thought of in Little Falls. He was a member of the Fire department for sixteen years and was a Democrat until 1856, since which time he has been a Republican. He has two sons, Earl McChesney and Robert, the latter deceased. Earl is an engineer on the New York Central and Robert was a conductor for twelve years on the same line.
