He married Betsey C., daughter of Moses and Alice Eldred, in March, 1829. Their children are: Cornelia J. Smith, Flora F. Crandall, S. James McKee, of Danville, Ill., Myron A. McKee, cashier of Richfield Springs Bank, and Fannie A. Day. One daughter, Alice M. Houghton, died February 14, 1875. Samuel McKee held several town offices -- inspector and commissioner of common schools, supervisor two terms, justice of the peace sixteen years, also vice- president and director of the West Winfield Bank several terms. He commenced in life a poor boy, has acquired a competence, and is now living a retired farmer in Winfield.
