He was subsequently American Express agent for twenty-three years. He went into the grocery business with his father when twenty-eight years of age, a business which he still continues. He was president of the Republican Club of Hion for some time and is a Knight Templar in the Masonic order. In 1872 he married Miss Mary C. Myers, and they have three children, Flora R., Margaret L., and Lawrence L.
