He is by trade a carpenter and joiner, and has built many fine buildings. He is also a farmer in East Winfield. He was drafteed in the late war and paid $300 for a substitute. He was a son of Cyril Montgomery, of Fairfield, Vt., and he is a son of William, a prominent man, a large land owner and capitalist. He was one of the stockholders and main movers in the "Old Cherry Valley Turnpike." He settled in this town about 1800. William K. Montgomery married in 1858 Juliatte, daughter of Hiram Burgess, of this town, who was also a thrifty farmer, quite an extensive hop- grower and dairyman. They have six children: John C. F., Rosie M., Edwin D., Lee L., Mary B. and Nettie M. They have lost one, Louisa A., who died March 18, 1880, aged sixteen years.
