His father was a soldier in the French War and was at the capture of Louisburg. He was a captain of militia in the Revolution. The news of the Declaration of Independence was received at Fort Washington while Captain Moors was there. Isaac L. Moors was born in Winfield, Herkimer county, October 22, 1805, a son of Joseph, who settled in Winfield about 1800, one of the first settlers of that town. Isaac L. married in 1830 Mary Simms, and they have two children living, Dr. Alfred A., and Mrs. M. Delane Walker, widow of Dwight Walker. He lost one daughter, Ruth, born September 1,1830, wife of Charles J. Hester, of Memphis, Tenn., who died March 29, 1853.
