His ancestors on both sides took part in the Revolutionary war and his grandmother was scalped, yet lived forty years afterwards. A bloody massacre took place on this farm, and the old house in which his grandparents lived forms a part of his abode. He married in 1847, and has two children: Charles S. and Mary Ann. Charles S. is married to Miss Libby Bacon. Mr. Smith has ninety-six acres of fine dairy land.
