Edwin's father, John Smith, lived and died on the farm which is rich in historic incidents. A branch of the Mohawk tribe had their headquarters there and several battles between the British and patriots were fought upon it; skulls, arrow heads, cannon balls, etc., are frequently plowed up. Mr. Smith owns three hundred acres which extend into both counties.
