Author: Hardin & Willard

Spencer, D. D., Ilion, is a native of Illinois, and spent many years in the 
banking business in Chicago. About twelve years ago he went to Europe and 
resided in different countries until recently when he settled in Mohawk, and 
has started a large and flourishing stock farm. The house in which Mr. Spencer 
lives contains some rooms of much historic interest, for in them Washington 
spent some time over a century ago.  The old house has been preserved as part 
of the new structure for this reason.
