Author: Hardin & Willard

Tanner, Merritt W., Schuyler, was born in Schuyler, November 23, 1839.  He 
engaged in farming and the butter trade.  He was in business in Iowa for about 
five years.  His father was Hiram B. Tanner, and his grandfather was William 
Tanner, who came here from Rhode Island.  In 1861 Mr. Tanner married Libbie A. 
Frank, daughter of John C. Frank, of Fort Herkimer, and has only one son 
living, Almon M., who is also married and has two children:  Blanche L. and 
Almon M. jr.
