Davis, a native of Newport, Herkimer county, N.Y., born Dec. 11th, 1824, and a resident of this town for the past 21 years, died at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, June 22d, 1893, from injuries received by being thrown from a buggy the Tuesday evening previous. He drove out to the home of his son-in-law, Geo. Crain, and in turning into the gate his buggy tipped throwing him violently against the gate post. Three ribs were broken, one penetrating the lungs causing internal hemorrhage. Dr. Gilbert dressed the wounds, but erysipelas set in and resulted in death. Deceased leaves a wife and two children, Thomas, of Grinnell, Iowa, and Mrs. Geo. Crain, of this town. He also has two brothers, N.D., of Pen Yan, N.Y., and A.F., who resides in Hanna. The funeral was held at the residence of Geo. Crain on Friday at 8 o'clock, Rev. Dr. Waterman officiating."
