LILY RANKIN DIES IN HERKIMER HOSPITAL Ten Day Illness Fatal to N. Washington St. Woman, Resident Here 30 Years. Mrs. Lily Rankin 69, 214 North Washington street, died at 4:30 yesterday afternoon in Herkimer Memorial hospital. Death was caused by cerebral hemorrhage, following a 10-day illness. She was born in Springfield Center, March 17, 1868, daughter of the late Charles Asa and Frances Pierce Hewes. When she was 8 she moved with her family to Little Falls, where she attended school, and where she resided until she came to Herkimer, about 30 years ago. In 1885 she was married to Orlando Burt, who died 27 years ago, In 1912 she was married to Harvey Rankin, who survives her. Mrs. Rankin was a member of the Little Falls Baptist church and attended the Herkimer Reformed church. She belonged at one time to the Little Falls chapter of the D.A.R. and to the Little Falls Grange, but had withdrawn from these activities in later years. She is survived by her husband; by one daughter, Mrs. Earl Kirby, Lansing St.; by a sister, Mrs. Myra MacChesney, Schenectady, and by nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral, which will be private, will be held Sunday at the convenience of the family. The Rev. T. W. Prins, pastor of the Reformed church, will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. Friends may view the remains at the Harris Funeral home, N. Washington St., tomorrow evening. [This is from an old scrapbook, the date penciled on it is Aug 19- 37 (Aug 19, 1937).
