I John Ford of sound mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament- First, whereas I have a mortgage against Calvin Ford my son who resides in Vanburen in Onondaga County which mortgage is recorded in the Clerks Office in the County of Onondaga in Book number twenty seven of Mortgages page 432 on the twenty first day of May 1834 and also another mortgage against Daniel Ford recorded in the Clerks Office of Herkimer County March 4th 1834 in Book II [orIJ] of mortgages pages 385 and 386 and whereas I also hold three notes against my son John Ford two of which were given for one hundred dollars each with use dated June the 9th 1832 and the other note for thirty one dollars with use dated June the 21st 1839 now therefore at my decease the amount due upon said mortgages and notes I give to my four sons John, Daniel, Alvin and Calvin in equal portions and if any of them are not living his portion I give to his heirs. I also give to my son Daniel Ford the use of the water priviledges where his saw mill now stands and also the use of the saw mill yard as now occupied by him the same to be occupied for a saw mill and saw mill yard only, and no additional or other building to be erected and the said Daniel is to have the use of the said mill priviledge and yard as long as he shall maintain and use a saw mill where his present mill now stands on condition that he pays to my wife Elizabeth the sum of eight dollars annualy on the first day of April in each year as long as my wife Elizabeth remains my widow and if she remains my widow during her natural life said rent shall be paid to her during the same and after her decease the said rent shall be paid to my heirs generally in equal portions as long as the said Daniel shall occupy the same as above mentioned. I also give to my son Alvin Ford my desk after my decease. I will that from the residue of my property my debts shall be paid and what there remains of real estate goods and chattels I will that one half of the use of said property should be laid out in repairing the buildings and fences on my said farm as long as necessary and the other half of the use of said property I give to my wife Elizabeth as long as she remains my widow and also to have the priviledge of living in the house where I now reside and other necessary priviledges that may be for her comfort and convenience and after the necessary repairs have been made on my said farm if one half of the use of my said property is not sufficient to maintain my said wife Elizabeth comfortably I will that she should have the use of the whole of said property my furniture in the house and other household property I give to my said wife to be used by her while she remains my widow and if she remains my widow during her life she shall have the use of said furniture while she lives and after her decease if any of it remains the same to be equally divided among my heirs. Except that such part of my present property as belonged to my said wife before her marriage with me shall be disposed and after either the marriage or decease of my said wife I will that the residue of all my property be sold and the proceeds to be divided into seven parts four of said parts to be given to my said four sons if they be living and if they be not each ones part to be given to his heirs in equal portions and one seventh part to be given to the heirs of my said daughter Prudence Warner wife of Michael Warner and one seventh part to the heirs of my daughter Lucy Dennison wife of George Dennison and the remaining seventh part I give to the heirs of my daughter Polly Thomas wife of Rufus Thomas. I appoint Elizabeth W. Wilson and John Ford Jun. Executors of this my last Will and Testament. Dated August 24th 1844.
