ASAHEL ALFORDS ESTATE

HERKIMER County Surrogates Office

In the matter of proving the will of Asahel ALFORD deceased as a will of
Real and personal property 

Seth BURGESS of the town of Palermo in the County of Oswego being duly sworn
and examined doth depose and Testify That he was acquainted with Asahel
ALFORDS now deceased in his life time. That this deponent saw the said Asahel
ALFORD subscribe the instrument now shown to the deponent purporting to be the
last will and testament of the said Asahel ALFORD bearing date the Fifth day
of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty eight
and that the said Asahel Alford at the same time declared the said instrument
to be his last will and testament And that the deponent together with Wilber
D. ARMSTRONG the other subscribing witness to said will subscribed his name as
a witness at the request of the said deceased And that the said will was
executed by the deceased in the presence of all of said witnesses and was
attested by all of said witnesses at the time it was executed. And in the
presence of the testator and of each other And at the time the same was
executed the decease was of full lawful age and of sound mind and memory and
not under restraint to the best of the deponents knowledge and belief And this
deponent further saith that he was well acquainted with Wilbur D. ARMSTRONG
the other subscribing witness to the will and with his manner and style of
writing And that the signature Wilber D. ARMSTRONG signed as a witness to the
paper purporting to be the will of Asahel ALFORD is the genuine hand writing
of the said Wilber D. ARMSTRONG this deponent having seen write his name to
the same And that said ARMSTRONG resides out of the State of New York.

I Asahel ALFORD of the town of Columbia in said County by this my last will
and testament do will and bequeath to my five daughter (Viz) Lydia AMES, Polly
AYLESWORTH, Belinda ALFORD, Chloe ORENDORF & Zeruah ORENDORF all my estate
personal or real to be divided equally between them but if any one or more
should not survive me then in such case it shall be equally divided among the
rest so that it shall be equally shared by those of them who shall survive me
In testimony where of I have this 5th day of April one thousand eight hundred
and forty eight at Columbia aforesaid in the presence of the undersigned
attesting witnesses here unto set my hand and seal.

Asahel ALFORD L.S.

The said Testator at the time of making the said subscription declaring the
above instrument so subscribed to be his last will and testament requesting
each of us whose names are here unto subscribed to place them at the end of
this will which he now declares to be his last will and testament which we
have done in accordance with said request.

Be it remembered that on the day of the date here of the last will and
testament of Asahel ALFORD late of Columbia in the County of Herkimer deceased
being the foregoing written instrument was duly proved before Ezra GRAVES
Surrogate of the said County according to law as and for the last will and
testament of the real and personal estate of said deceased which said last
will and testament and the proofs examinations taken thereon are recorded in
this office& testimony whereof the surrogate of the said County hath hereunto
set his hand and affixed his seal of office this thirteenth day of March in
the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four.
