Unknown Newpaper (Prob. Jefferson County Journal) Unknown Date Jefferson County Journal January 12, 1892 --John Waite, for many years a resi- dent of this village, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. P. C. Jennings, of Watertown, Sunday, his death having been caused by two recent paralytic shocks. Mr. Waite was of English birth. Coming to this country over sixty years ago, he lived one year in Lorraine at the home of his father, a Baptist preacher, and then settled in Adams, where for many years he carried on the hardware business. An earnest Christian worker, he identi- fied himself with the M. E. Church, serv- ing successfully as chorister and class leader for nearly thirty years. Of a jolly and genial disposition, he made and kept many friends, who will long remember the kindly words and pleasant smiles of "Uncle John." Four children survive him, Mrs. C. E. Moore, of Newark, N. Y., Mrs. P. C. Jen- nings, of Watertown, J. L. Waite, of Amsterdam, and L. J. Waite, of Belle- ville; also one brother, James Waite, of Adams. The funeral services were held this morning and the remains brought here for interment. ---- Jefferson County Journal January 12, 1892 ===== DIED. ===== BURR--In Champion, Jan. 2d, Harvey Burr, aged 72 years, 7 mos.
