 --John Waite, for many years a resi- dent of this village, died at the home of his daughter,
Mrs. P. C. Jennings, of Watertown, Sunday, his death having been caused by two recent paralytic
shocks.

 Mr. Waite was of English birth. Coming to this country over sixty years ago, he lived one year
in Lorraine at the home of his father, a Baptist preacher, and then settled in Adams, where for
many years he carried on the hardware business.

 An earnest Christian worker, he identi- fied himself with the M. E. Church, serv- ing
successfully as chorister and class leader for nearly thirty years.

 Of a jolly and genial disposition, he made and kept many friends, who will long remember the
kindly words and pleasant smiles of "Uncle John."

 Four children survive him, Mrs. C. E. Moore, of Newark, N. Y., Mrs. P. C. Jen- nings, of
Watertown, J. L. Waite, of Amsterdam, and L. J. Waite, of Belle- ville; also one brother, James
Waite, of Adams.  The funeral services were held this morning and the remains brought here for
interment.

HUGHSON--At Sacketts Harbor, Jan. 4th, Lois Hughson, mother of David B. Hughson, of Watertown,
 aged 66 yeras, 8 mos.

KIBLIN--At Sandy Creek, Jan. [5 or 6]th, John Kiblin, aged 81 years.

McQUILLAN--Near Carthage, Dec. 31st, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Elias McQuillan, aged 2 months.

POTTER--In Brownville, Jan. 6, Abba M., widow of the late Abson Potter, aged 92 years.

SATTERLY--In Wilna, Dec. 30, Ephraim Satter- ly, aged 71 years.

SHEHAN--In Watertown, Jan. 7th, Bridget, widow of the late Henry Shehan, aged 95 yrs

SIMMONS--In the town of Watertown, Jan 5th, Emma I., daughter of Orio D. and Loretta Sim- mons,
 aged 2 years, 6 mos.

SCRIPTURE--At Lacona, Jan 10, Calvin Scrip- ture, aged 70 years.

STEVENS--In West Carthage, Jan. 4th, Jerome Stevens, aged 65 years, 11 mos.

THOMAS--Near Barnes Corners, Dec. 25th, By- ron Thomas, aged 55 years, 9 mos.

THOMPSON--In Carthage, Jan. 7, I. E. Thomp- son, formerly of Watertown, aged 61 years.

TWINING--In Copenhagen, Dec. 27th, Eveline R., relict of John Twining, aged 73 years.

VROOMAN--In Champion, Dec. 18th, Miss Ange- line Vrooman, aged 71 years.

VAN DUSEN--In Pulaski, Dec. 25th, Helen, youngest child of M. O. and Hattie Van Dusen, aged 7
 months.

WALSH--Near Carthage, Jan. 2, Mrs. Catherine Walsh, aged 83 years.

WAITE--In Watertown, Jan 10th, John Waite, aged 87 years. Remains were brought to Adams for
 interment.
