Courthouse, Watertown, NY Will Book Vol?, page 255 In the matter of the administration of the goods, chattels and credits of Asa Barnes Deceased THE PEOPLE of the STATE OF NEW YORK to Oren Barnes of Pamelia & Samuel C.[O?] Barnes of LeRay both of Jefferson Co. NY. WHEREAS, Asa Barnes late of the Town of Pamelia in the County of Jefferson in the State of New York, deceased, as is alleged, died intestate; having while living, and at the time of his death, goods, chattels and credits, within this State, and you being entitled thereto and having first taken and subscribed an oath faithfully and honestly to discharge the duties of such Administrator according to law; and having with your sureties, executed a Bond to us, for the faithful performance of those duties; which oath and Bond are duly filed in the Surrogate's Office of our said County of Jefferson we do by these presents, Depute, Constitute and appoint you Administrator of all and singular the goods, chattels and credits, which were of the said Asa Barnes deceased; and do hereby grant unto you, the said Oren Barnes and Samuel C.[O?] Barnes full power, by these presents, to fully ADMINISTER upon his Personal Estate, and to do and perform all duties and acts relating thereto which by the laws of this State are required of Administrators appointed by the Surrogate, and the performance of which in the administration of the goods, chattels and credits aforesaid, may be necessary for the due, faithful and proper administration thereof. Oren's bio [Hough] states that his parents were Asa and Dolly (Cronkhite) Barnes & that Asa Barnes came to Pamelia in 1813 from Springfield, Otsego, NY. An 1847 church record & 1850 census list Betsey ___ Barnes wf of Asa Barnes. No connection found between this Asa Barnes d 1866 & Deacon Asa Barnes of the Hartford line d 1850 who is also buried in Evans Mills Cemetery.
