Gilbert Taylor Will
In the name of God Amen
I Gilbert Taylor of Le Ray, County of Jefferson and State of New York being
sick/weak in body but sound of mind and memory Blessed be Almighty God for the
same Do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form
following namely.  I give and bequest unto my bloved wife Clarissa the use 
and benefit of my estate both real and personal until my son Alford be comes
twenty one years of age with an exception of an heirship right I own in my
fathers estate in Rodman and which I will and bequeath unto my son Cyrus W
Taylor with the injunction to hire Tobey Keyes and perform all obligations on
or resting in me to fufil with respect to the settling of such estate in which
said heirship lies.  To my sons Gilbert C. Taylor I will twenty five dollars
and also an amount I have against him of seventy five dollars.  

On my son Alford arriving to twenty one years of age.  I will to my beloved
wife Clarissa all my household furnitureand one third part of my real estate
during her life.  The remainder to be equally divided between my daughters
Fanny, Maria, Olive, Lucy and my son Alford Zena.  At the decease of my
beloved wife Clarissa I will whatever she leaves of property land be equally 
divided between the heirs last mentioned.  I hereby appoint Hiram H Taylor and
Cyrus W. Taylor administrators of this my last will and testament. I hereby
revoke all former wills by me made.  In witness where of I here unto set my
hand and seal this 10th  day of October 1840.     Gilbert Taylor LS

At Surrogate Court held in Jefferson Co. in village of Watertown on fifth day
of Nov. one thousand eight hundred forty 

In matter of Proving the Will of real and personal Estate of Gilbert Taylor is
the following: ..... that on the seventeeth day of October one thousand eight
hundred and forty came Hiram H Taylor of Rodman in said county and by his
petition in an oath proved to the satisfaction of said Surrogate that Gilbert
Taylor late of the town of LeRay in said county died in or about the
thirteenth day of the same month being at the time of his death an inhabitant
of said town - having and leaving Real and Personal Estate therein - which he 
had disposed of by his last  will and testament duly made and published prior
to his death - that therein had approached the said Hiram H. Taylor and Cyrus
W. Taylor Executors thereof - and that he left the following named persons
whose places of residence are here after stated his next of
kin and heirs at law - 
that is to say
Clarisssa Taylor his widow residing in the town of Le Ray aforesaid Fanny
(Frances) Trowbridge wife of Adonis Trowbridge his daughter last residing on
the town of Pinckney in the County of Lewis Mariah Lyon his daughter, wife of
Varnum Lyonboth residing in the town of Philadelphia in Jefferson Co. Olive
Stevens his daughter, wife of Alva Stevensboth residing in the town of Le Ray
afore said Clinton G. Taylor his son residing in the town of Le Ray Lucy
Taylor his daughter residing in the town of Le Ray afore said Cyrus W. Taylor
and Alford Z. Taylor his sons residing in the same town of Le Ray

Gilbert Taylor's father David died in 1839, his mother died 1838 Rodman,
Jefferson Co. NY. Gilbert had been named executor to David Taylor will
