D. THE LEWIS PUBLISHING COMPANY NEW YORK AND CHICAGO COPYRIGHT. 1902 PETER A. Adrian Hegeman, the pioneer, was the father of Denyse Hegeman, who had a son Denyse. This second Denyse had a son named Adrian, whose son, Thomas, was the father of Michael Hegeman, who was the father of Peter A. Hegeman, subject of this sketch: Michael Hegeman served his country in the war of 1812-14, and was a farmer who labored diligently and prospered abundantly. He married Joanna Emmans, daughter of Andrew Emmans and a member of an old and honorable family. Michael and Joanna (Emmans) Hegeman, both of whom died in 1863, had six children, two of whom are living: Peter A. and Belinda H., who married Timothy Nostrand, of New Utrecht, Long Island. Peter A. From early manhood he has been a communicant at Bay Ridge Dutch Reined church and he was for some time one of the elders of that body. He is a charter member of the New Utrecht Rod and Gun Cub and has from time to time been associated with other local organization He married Miss Anna C. Van Brunt November 19, 1867, and they have had four children, two of whom are living: Daniel V. B. and Mary F. Mrs. Hegeman is the daughter of Daniel and Mary C.
