I, Owen Lewis, of the town of West Turin, in the County of Lewis, and State of New York, being of sound mind, memory and understanding but aware of the uncertainty of life; do make, sign, seal, publish and declare this to be my last will and Testament in manner and form following Viz.: I. I order and direct that my Executors herein after named pay all my just debts and personal charges including the expense of suitable tomb stone out of my personal property as soon after my decease as conveniently may be. II. I give, devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife Sarah Lewis the use of all my real and personal property during the term of her natural life. III. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Catherine Edwards (wife of John Edwards) the sum of five hundred dollars. IV. I give and bequeath unto my grand daughter Elizabeth Edwards the sum of Five hundred dollars. V. I give and bequeath unto my grand son Robert H. Lewis (son of Lewis Lewis deceased) the sum of two hundred dollars to be paid to him when he arrives at the age of twenty one years but not before, but in the case of his death before he becomes of age the legacy to him to be equally divided among my children herein after immediately named. VI. I give devise and bequeath unto my sons Robert O. Lewis, William Lewis, John Lewis and my daughter Sarah Lewis all the rest residue and remainder of my estate, Real and personal of every kind and nature whatever to be to be equally divided between them share and share alike. To have and to hold the same to the said Robert O., William, John and Sarah for their use and benefit and to their heirs and assigns forever but in case of the death of the said William or the said Sarah without leaving heirs of their bodies to share bequeathed to them shall go to the said Robert O. and the said John to be equally divided between share and share alike. And the legacy bequeathed to my said son William is not to be paid to him but is to be received by my Executor herein after named in trust for his benefit during the term of his natural life. Lastly, I do hereby nominate, constitute and approve my said wife, Sarah, to be the executrix, and my son Robert O. Lewis to be the Executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all and every former Will or Wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal at West Turin, aforesaid the Eleventh day of May in the Year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and Seventy one. Owen Lewis, ss. The above instrument written on this and the two preceding pages was now at the date thereof signed sealed published and declared by Owen Lewis, the Testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence, of us, who at his request and in his presence, and in the presence of each other have subscribed as witnesses thereto, Ellis Lewis, residing in West Turin, Lewis County, New York William D. Lewis, residing in West Turin, Lewis County, New York.
