G. SNAPP One of Eastern Crawford's most enterprising farmers was born in Livingston county, New York, January 12th, 1826, and is a son of George Snapp, who came to Warren county about 1888, and to Crawford (Sparta township) in 1840 or 1841, and settled on 106 acres of land at Glyndon, on Oil Creek. In 1864 he sold the farm for oil purposes and returned to New York State. The subject of this history lived at home until 1849. He attended the Waterford Academy, and in 1850 bought a farm of fifty acres and commenced improving it. He has now over 200 acres, mostly under cultivation. He has always made dairying and stock raising a specialty. During the three winter months of 1872-3 he sold over $2,000 worth of milk to Messrs. J. A. Crawford and George Custard, of Titusville. He now winters from seventy-five to one hundred head of cattle, among which may be found some of the best Durhams In Crawford county. He was married in March, 1849, to Miss Olivia Whitney, daughter of Joshua Whitney. He was 'appointed postmaster when Glyndon was first made a post office, and afterward resigned and was again appointed in 1870, and now holds the office.
