Approximate date is 1876.

Additional Comments:
This photo was in the possession of my great grandmother, Martha Little Jewell, 
along with 12 letters from Erastus Knowlton. Some of the letters were written 
to Ellen Peters Little (Martha's mother) and the rest were written to James and 
Sina Peters (Sina was Ellen's mother and Sina was the sister of Erastus). In 
one letter to Ellen dated June 10, 1876, Erastus writes that he enclosed a 
photograph of himself. I assume it was this photo. His name written on the back 
is in the same hand as the letters. The other information written on the back 
was written by my mother and is incorrect.
