MD Dr. George L. Gilmore of Venice, Fla. died at home Aug. 25th (1984). Born in Syracuse, N.Y. in 1921, he attended Hamilton College & The Syracuse University College of Medicine. After several years as a General Practicener in Canandaigua, he joined the anesthesia department of Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY. He served as a medical officer in occupied Germany. After 28 years at Highland Hospital he moved to Venice, Fla. in Feb. of this year. He was a life member of both The Medical Society of the State of New York & The Monroe County Medical Society. Dr. Gilmore was an avid golfer, a member of Oak Hill Country Club, and a 25 year member of the League of the Iroquois. He leaves his wife Suzanna Gilmore, the former Suzanna Barnouw; also four children by a previous marriage, including 2 daughters, Susan Winslow of Rochester and Linda Trono of Plainfield, Vt.; and two sons, George Gilmore, Jr. of Stuart, Fla. and Gregory Gilmore of Rochester; also a brother, Dr. Henry L. Gilmore, Jr. of Syracuse, and 3 grandchildren. He also is survived by his stepmother, Alverta Gilmore of Lake Worth, Fla. A memorial service will be held in Rochester on Sept. 24th at 11AM., Interfaith Chapel, U. of R. Memorial donations may be made to Highland Hospital, Anesthesia Department.
