Irene Hines of the Sisters of St. Joseph, a teacher here and in other cities of the Rochester Catholic diocese, died suddenly yesterday (Apr. 14, 1942) at Villa Marie, Wayland. She had been a member of the order since 1876. The nun was born in Churchville, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Hines. She entered the congregation here and received her habit in 1877. Sister Irene taught successively in Dansville, Auburn, where she opened St. Alphonus convent and school; Rochester, Ithaca and Elmira. She was the sister of Mother Agnes Hines, general superior of the community for more than 25 years preceding her death in 1921. Sister Irene is survived by a sister, Mrs. Charles Holmes, Fairport; a nephew and a niece. Funeral services will be held from Holy Famly Chapel at the Pittsford Motherhouse at 9 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in the sisters' plot at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
