Walter A. Kier, an East Rochester native and a former Penfield Gas Station owner, died of congestive heart failure Sunday, July 29, 1990, at a hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla. He was 68. Mr. Kier, who was born and raised in East Rochester and who later operated a Texaco gas station near what is now Panorama Plaza and worked at Xerox for 10 years, had been living in St. Petersburg for the last few years. While there he had been operating Walt and Nancy's diner. Mr. Kierr, who was predeceased by his wife, Nancy Reid Kier, in 1988, is survived by two daughters, Sandra Oliver and Dana Kier, both of St. Petersburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Reid and Lea Kier of Clifton Springs and Noel and Patricia kier of Pittsford; his mother, Grace Kier of Fairport; two brothers, Gerald of Penfield and Ronald of West Henrietta; two sisters, Shirley Merrick and Jean Lanni, both of Fairport; and seven grandchildren, Colleen and Billy Oliver of St. Petersburg, Tina, Kim and Brandy Kier of Clifton Springs, and Emily and Meghan Kier of Pittsford. A Private Service will be held for the family in St. Petersburg. Internment will be at the convenience of the family.
