Will of Johannes LINGENFELTER, born in Germany ca 1750's, came to America before the American Revolution, and lived in Montgomery County, N. Y. His will was found on p. 505 of the early wills at the Montgomery County (NY) Surrogate's Office. The will was dated from Amsterdam, N. Y. on 7 Sept 1815 and probated 18 September 1815. First I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Catharine as long as she shall remain my widow one third part of all my real Estate contained in my old homestead also all my household furniture which furniture she may dispose of as she pleases -- also one third part of the house room in my house, and barn room for one Horse & one cow -- Secondly, I give and bequeath to my two youngest Sons William and George Lingenfelter the residue of a lott (sic) of land which I have not disposed of in Cayaderossas patent a part of which lott I have heretofore conveyed to my son Michael which residue so bequeathed to my Sons George & William Lingenfelter their Heirs and Assigns is supposed to contain about Seventy Acres. Thirdly, I give and bequeath to my Sons John Lingenfelter and Baltus Lingenfelter all the residue of my real Estate not bequeathed to my said above named to (sic)youngest Sons to be equally divided between the said John & Baltus according to quantity and quality to them their Heirs and Assigns. Fourthly, I give unto my eight Daughters (viz) Catharine, Sarah, Eve, Lana, Elizabeth, Maria, Hannah & Susana each the Sum of fifty Dollars to be paid to them by my Sons John and Baltus in four years after my death to the said Daughters their Heirs or Assigns -- which said Legacies I make binding my Estate until paid. -- Fifthly, I bind my Sons John & Baltus to pay the Sum of fifty Dollars to each of my Daughters above named at the time above mentioned -- and I also give to my said Sons John and Baltus Lingenfelter all my personal Estate not disposed of to my Wife for their use & their Heirs and Assigns, and I bind the said John and Baltus to pay all Debts that I may own at the time of my death and my funeral expenses. Sixthly, I appoint my beloved Wife Catharine Lingenfelter, John H. Lansing and James Cushney Executors to this my last Will and testament, hereby revoking all former Wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the seventh Day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen. Be it remembered that on the eighteenth Day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen, personally appeared before me James Lansing Surrogate of the County of Montgomery, John H. Lansing and James Cushney who being duly sworn severally dispose and say that they saw John Liingenfelter sign and seal and heard him publish and declare the foregoing Instrument, as and for his last Will and testament. That the said John Lingenfelter was at the time thereof (according to the best of the Judgement and belief of these Deponents)of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding. That these Deponents respectively subscribed their names thereto as witnesses to the execution thereof in the presence of the said John Lingenfelter the testator; and that they at the same time saw Grandus Lingenfelter subscribe his name thereto as a Witness to the execution thereof, also in the said testators presence.
