To all to whom these presents shall come; or may concern, Send Greeting. Know ye that at Johnstown in the county of Montgomery before James Lansing Esquire, Surrogate of our said county, the last will and testament of John Antis deceased (a copy whereof is hereunto annexed) was proved, and is now approved and allowed of by us; and the said deceased having, whilst he lived and at the time of his death, goods chattels or credits within this State, by means whereof the proving and registering the said will, and the granting administration of all and singular the said goods, chattels and credits; and also the auditing, allowing and final discharging the account thereof doth belong unto us: the administration of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased and any way concerning his will is granted unto Henry Antis one of the Executors in the said will named he being first duly sworn well and faithfully to administer the same and to make and exhibit a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the said goods chattels and credits, and also to render a just and true account thereof, when thereunto required. In testimony whereof we have caused the Seal of Office of our said Surrogate to be hereunto affixed. Witness James Lansing Esquire Surrogate of the said County at Johnstown the twenty-fourth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty, and of our independence the forty fifth. James Lansing In the name of God amen, I John Antis of the town of Canajohary (sic), in the County of Montgomery and State of New York Yeoman, being in a low state of health but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God calling into mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all mortals to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul unto the hands of almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me within this life, I give demise (devise?) and dispose of the same in the following manner and form. First, I give to my son James Antis two thirds of the farm that I now live on with the appurtenances thereunto, and also one half of my cattle and sheep, and also I give to my son Henry Antis one third of the farm that I now live on with the appurtenances thereunto, and one half of my cattle and sheep, and also I give unto my dearly beloved wife one bed with bedding, together with curtains, and also I give to my sons James and Henry and my daughter Peggy all of my household furniture to be divided equally among them, and also I do bind my two sons James and Henry to maintain my wife comfortably as long as she shall remain my lawful widow, and also to maintain my daughter Peggy as long as she shall live with them unmarried, and lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint James Antis my son and Henry Antis my son, and Stephen Bundy to be my executors of this my last will and testament whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the tenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen. his John X Antis LS mark Signed sealed and pronounced in presence of us his Toadwick X Putman, David L. Mark Be it also remembered that on the twenty-fourth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty, personally appeared before me James Lansing Surrogate of the County of Montgomery, David L. Putman who, being duly sworn, deposith and saith, that he saw John Antis sign and seal and heard him publish and declare the within instrument as and for his last will and testament. That the said John Antis was, at the time thereof, (according to the best the judgment and belief of this Deponent) of sound and disposing mind and memory, and of good understanding; that this deponent subscribed his name thereto as a witness to the execution thereof, in the presence of the said John Antis the testator; and that he at the same time saw Toadwick Putman and John L. Putman respectively subscribe their names thereto as witnesses to the execution thereof, also in the said testator's presence. James Lansing The preceding are copies of the last will and testament of John Antis deceased, of the certificate of the proof thereof, and of the letters testamentary thereon.
