Walked home with Lena. Eugene was home - Fannie came there for me, we went to Market. Wrote Pauline Hamilton at Alameda. Tommy home all day. Wednesday January 2, 1907 Home all day. Rainy Thursday January 3, 1907 Beatrice out. Fannie & I arranged the dinner. Calomel this afternoon. Rain Friday January 4, 1907 Fannie went to Mass 10 - Alice's letter & check came $25. Jessie, Lena & George Potts here - later Alice & Fannie Perkins called. Tommy dined at Mrs Hough's. Tommy's cards came from Sterns. Stormy Saturday January 5, 1907 Home all day. Mrs Park's little girl fell through sky light & was killed. Sunday January 6, 1907 Church at 10:30. M. Young walked home with us. Mrs Gardiner at church with Lena. Jack Lane here in the evening. Nellie doing very nicely. Mild Monday January 7, 1907 Fannie & I went to Market. Tommy gave me $20.00. Fannie Perkins check came. 18.00. Fannie & I went to P.O. 84 & Columbus & registered a letter to Gourand for Tommy. We walked over to Riverside & met Emma Edsall just coming in - she spent an hour with us. Rev Robert Ritchie died at 3:30 A.M. in Phila - heart trouble. Rain Tuesday January 8, 1907 Letter from Mrs Grace Taft at whose house Frank died - wrote to her & wrote Tom H. enclosing her letter. Tailor pressed Tom's suit - 50 cts. Tommy dined out. Windy Fannie Wednesday January 9, 1907 Cold Ricker called here this A.M. Mrs Lyon phoned for Sarah her maid ill with grippe. Tom down town - saw Mason. Schatz here this afternoon. She told me Rev Robert Ritchie died Monday in Phila he was Fr R's brother - I had not heard of it - Fr Ritchie had the requiem mass in Phila for his brother at the funeral. Thursday January 10, 1907 Raw & cold Home all day. Tommy & I looked over some papers together - wrote Carrie Delano & Tom mailed the letter. Clear - warmer Friday January 11, 1907 Home all day. Alice phoned this afternoon. Fannie Perkins spent last night there with her. Ben is in Montana. Fannie busy making sedan chairs. Sent note - condolence to Father Ritchie. Letter from Tom Hamilton. Towels & dusters from Macy $1.16. Rain Saturday January 12, 1907 Home all day. Fannie making sedan chairs. Tom & Tommy helping. Alice phoned. Tommy took some chairs to - to sell for Fannie. Sunday January 13, 1907 Pleasant until five when it rained. Fannie & I went to 10:30 . Father Burnet had the Mass - Father Ritchie preached. Mr Y. walked with Fannie. I joined Eugene & Lena & walked to 83rd with them then home. B. out this afternoon. Tom home all day - Tommy went out this afternoon. Rain Monday January 14, 1907 Mrs Burnett came in after the mass at church "C.B.B." Tommy went down town - borrowed $25 at Bergers for me on the bar pin. Fannie making sedans. Foggy Tuesday January 15, 1907 Letter from Pauline H. Tommy out to meet the business men. Alice phoned. I felt ill at the dinner table & went to bed very early. Wrote Pauline H. Very cold Wednesday January 16, 1907 Fannie went to the exchange 40th st & Alice Swifts - left sedan chairs to be sold. Alice phoned & later sent Dr Lyle who examined my ears for the ringing. Found the arteries in good condition. I am to take 30 drops 3 times a day - potash. Jessie phoned & sent Billy White here in the car to see me. Alice sent goodies. Tom paid Bergen for me $25. Thursday January 17, 1907 Stormy - Tommy home all day reading & visiting with us. Fannie making sedan chairs. Beatrice out. Alice sent goodies 12 Vichy. Tom Hamilton here in the evening. John Lane called me up. Helen has had a serious time with her ear. Letter from Mr Williams a friend of Frank's asking to call. Friday January 18, 1907 Stormy Fannie went to 10 Mass - in doors all day. Alice phoned it was Fred Young's birthday & she had a dinner. My ears buzzed & I did not go out - better to night. Saturday January 19, 1907 Stormy, foggy & rainy. Mr [blank] called to see Tommy about the contract. Alice phoned - Ben is in Montana. Sunday January 20, 1907 Cold & very windy Church at 10:20. Lena there. After church we all visited together. Tom & Tommy went down. Fannie & I home alone we had tea. Monday January 21, 1907 Very cold - Fannie & I went to Sloane Maternity hospital to see Nellie Lane. She has been very ill, trouble with her ears - the baby three weeks old to day - Nellie looked very pale & ill - Tommy brought home the G.C. Book & he has his contract. He & Tom went to the theatre. Wrote Tom Hamilton. Miss Bradley called. [Transcriber's notes: Nellie Lane is Helen Lane, wife of John Bennett Lane, and the baby was John Hamilton Lane, her first child.] Cold Tuesday January 22, 1907 A telephone from Nellie's nurse she is very comfortable had a good night - I sent a postal to Tom H. Calomel. Wrote Julia Munroe. Wednesday January 23, 1907 Very cold. Emma Edsall lunched & stayed until four oclock. Alice phoned & Fannie Perkins - she is still in bed - bad cold. Father Burnett called. All home for dinner. Thursday January 24, 1907 Clear & cold. Alice's check. Tommy came late for dinner. I finished "A Fighting Chance". Bought 6 pairs stockings for Tommy. Tom called at hospital & saw Nellie's baby - she is getting on very nicely. Tommy sent telegraph to Ricker. St Paul Friday January 25, 1907 Too stormy to go to Mass. Lena called me up - all well. Mr Michael Williams called - an old friend of Frank's. Fannie Perkins called me up - she is much better. Saturday January 26, 1907 Stormy - in all day. Cold Sunday January 27, 1907 Church at 10. Walked home with Lena. Douglas Olcott joined us there & they walked home with me. Tommy with us all day until just before dinner. We had "tea" & enjoyed in Tom not home for "tea". We helped Tommy pack his trunk. Phone from Alice & Fannie. Monday January 28, 1907 Pleasant. Tommy called up Ricker - couldn't get him & went into "200" - he was late for dinner. Alice's cheque came. John Lane phoned from Hospital, Nellie doing very well. Tuesday January 29, 1907 Pleasant. Fannie went to the bank for me. Tommy home all day. R. came about 11 had never received letter - he came back at 3 & they left together - for A.H. at 3:30. Calomel Wednesday January 30, 1907 Cold. Fannie phoned & Jessie phoned - she had sprained her ankle & would be in several days. Letter from Tommy written at 10 Tuesday & wrote to him & Tom posted it. Jack Lane called - Helen & boy doing very well - he called on Alice to arrange for car Saturday. Thursday January 31, 1907 Cold. We mailed a foreign letter to Tommy. Miss Cortheal called. Jessie Jr phoned. Alice called me up - they are moving into apartment below. St Ignatius Day Friday February 1, 1907 Snow & rain Jessie sent the electric at 12 oclock & Fannie & I went to see her in her new apartment 13 E 45. Se was in bed with sprained ankle. Isabel & Jessie were there. Mrs Belmont Tiffany came in. We came home at 3:30. Letter from Tommy we wrote him & called up U.S. express to come for his lamp to send tomorrow. Cold Saturday February 2, 1907 Feast of the Purification Mass Fannie & I went to Mass at 10 - met Lena & Mrs Hawthorne & walked a little way with them. Fannie & I went to Library & then to 138 E. 83 to see some wallpapers. Expressed Tommy's electric lamp to him. Called up Nellie Lane to say good bye. Alice sent them home in the car to Queens. Fannie Perkins check 18.00 came. Cold Clear Sunday February 3, 1907 Church at 10:30. Gave Mr Ritchie Missionary money. Lena came to the apartment to meet Eugene. Murray Young walked home with us. Fred Y very ill. Benediction in afternoon. Tom not home for dinner. Very windy & cold. Fannie & I left some papers for Mrs Fosdick who is still ill in bed. Posted a letter to Tommy. Heavy snow - Fannie Monday February 4, 1907 Gave Beatrice her money 18. Tom home all day bad cold. Letter from Tommy & one from R. who is greatly pleased. Mailed two letters to Tommy. Wrote ?eanson & Hobbs about wall paper. Lena phoned. Fred Young better. Fannie wrote to Frank Francis Perkins. I wrote Nellie Lane. Tuesday February 5, 1907 Very stormy. Tom has a cold & remained in all day. Wrote Tommy. Read aloud. Very cold Wednesday February 6, 1907 Letter from Tommy he received the lamp Monday. Tom went down town. I read Lady Evelyn to Fannie - no phone from Alice. Wrote Tommy & sent three letters to him. Letter from Cox about girdles. Answered it. Cold Clear Thursday February 7, 1907 Postal from Fannie Perkins at Atlantic City. Letter from Tommy & a box of natural polish. I wrote to him. Tom's birthday Friday February 8, 1907 Fannie & I went to 10 Mass. Walked to market with Lena, home all day. Tom home for dinner. Eugene phoned in the evening. Congratulations from Nellie McD. Jerome, Margaret, Alice & Lena - Donald . Letter from Tommy. Wrote to him. Fine Saturday February 9, 1907 Fannie & I went to 7: Mass in time for Matins. Sent photo to Tom - Vera - 2 letters from him Alice phoned. Fannie & I went down to see her new apartment. Mrs Lampher came in afternoon. Sunday February 10, 1907 Church this morning 10:30 - Mrs De Peysters window in the choir blessed - after church Lean Mrs Lyone Fannie & I walked to 83 st & home on Riverside. Calomel to night Monday February 11, 907 Griffin sent samples of wall paper - we selected a lovely green Arranged Tommy's room. Shrove Cold Tuesday February 12, 1907 I went to 200 to see about telephone bill - error in it. Paid Dec & Jan bill 3.15. Fannie & I went to church at one oclock. Lena phoned me. Fannie mailed a book C.B.&D. to Tommy. Clear & Cold Wednesday February 13, 1907 Ash Wednesday Church at 6:30 "Benediction & ashes" & mass at 11 - I met Eugene on the corner he had Nellie Jerome's bag - in route to Margarits. Lena at 6:30. Thursday February 14, 1907 Rain & fog Fannie & I went to 10 oclock Mass. Walked to 83rd st with Lena then to Library. Tom sent man to see about the trunk to be mended. Alice phoned. Letter from C. Farms asking for money. Letter from Tommy - wrote to him. May Macdonald called. We did not go to church. Beatrice out. Friday February 15, 1907 Fannie went to 10 Mass. I waited to see the painter who came to do Tommy's room. It was papered this morning - a lovely green. Fannie went to the Guild meeting & voted same ticket. Home all day. Alice check came in the evening 6 P.M. Wrote Tommy. Saturday February 16, 1907 Gave Tom $6.00 for his tailor. Fannie & I went to Gohmer's to pay the bill & then to Specters bought a wash board & scrub pail. After the 10 Mass - Lena walked with us to 83rd st. Mrs McViekar telephoned to know about Mary Spaulding. Mailed foreign letter to Tommy. 5 oclock Vespers. Beatrice out for evening returned at 11:45 P.M. Fannie P. phoned. Sunday February 17, 1907 Clear Church at 10:30 & vespers. Lena walked home with us & met Eugene here. Tom went to the Club & did not come for dinner. Monday February 18, 1907 Fannie went to 7: Mass. I did not go on account of painter being here to 10: Fannie & I went to Macy's bought some things for Tommy's room. When we arrived at the apart. Tommy was there! He came home to stay! Carrie Delano - Anita & Linda came & stayed till 7. Tommy had a good night. Tuesday February 19, 1907 Mr Ricker called at 8 & left at five. We all breakfasted about 8 - Alices 2 mugs (msgs?) came. Tommy dined with Barrets - he is so well - fine. Fannie & I made curtains for his room. Wednesday February 20, 1907 Alice phoned & will send for rugs to be returned. Breakfasted early. Fannie & I made Kimona for Tommy. Went to 5-oclock Vespers. Tommy dined out - home very late. Fannie & I slept in Tom's room. Sent to Fr. R. for Tommy. Mr Foster died to day. Fair Thursday February 21, 1907 Wrote to Alice to send for rugs. Tommy called cab N.Y.C. Co. - at 9: Ricker expected did not come. Fannie & I went to 5 Mass Vespers. I was very tired & went early to bed. Tommy very well. John Lane phoned all well. Friday February 22, 1907 Out this morning for a walk. Could not go to morning service - expected Ricker. Lovelle called Alice phoned. Linda dined with us. We bought candy for Tommy. Saturday February 23, 1907 Fannie & I went to 10 Mass. Walked with Lena to market. Alice phoned & sent car for us & we went to her apartment to see Nellie & Annie McD. Fannie Perkins came there & later we came home in auto. Very cold - snow storm Sunday February 24, 1907 Church at 10:30 Lena there. After lunch snow storm. Tommy went down town - Tom too. Fannie & I alone for tea. Monday February 25, 1907 Pleasant Mr Ricker called this afternoon. Tommy home for dinner. Tuesday February 26, 1907 Very cold. Tommy's trunk arrived. Fannie unpacked & arranged everything. We went to church this afternoon Lena was there. Tommy dined down town. Alices cheque - $30 came & many things from Acker & Merrale. Beatrice went out at 8 oclock & did not return. Wednesday February 27, 1907 Up all night watching for Beatrice. I telephoned her brother in law but nothing was known of her. Jessie Jr phoned for Fannie & me to lunch & meet Alice & Fannie Perkins. Couldn't go on Beatrice's account. She came in at 4 P.M. having gone out at 8 night before. She was angry because I notified her brother in law & packed & left. Sarah came in answer to phone at 10 P.M. Alice & Fannie here. Thursday February 28, 1907 Busy all day. Getting Tommy's trunk ready to sail. Sarah Gooden still here. Tommy dined out came home early, he brought some music for Fannie to try. We were in bed but Fannie got up & played for him. Tommy called on Jessie & saw her & Will. Friday March 1, 1907 Busy with Tommy. After lunch he went out. Fannie & I went to the address at 5. Tommy dined out. Lena at church. Alice, Annie & Nellie & Mr. M & Eugene at opera tonight. Fannie phoned me. Saturday March 2, 1907 FF Home all day with Tommy packing his trunks. Vespers at five - very windy - all home for dinner. Lena's birthday Sunday March 3, 1907 Church at 11 - Fannie in bed. Tommy went to Dr Hoyts. Eugene at church door. Monday March 4, 1907 In bed with an attack of acute indigestion, pain in my side. Alice phoned - Fannie Perkins had Dr Lyale to take charge of her & she was delighted. Tuesday March 5, 1907 Calomel to day. Tommy sent some outing flannel from Macy's - I dri?ted on grnd? All home for dinner. Wednesday March 6, 1907 Ground covered with snow. Alice's check came. I felt ill this afternoon - pain in my side - made the two Kimonos - Fannie made one. Thursday March 7, 1907 Quite ill all day - pain in my right side - Dr Lyle came about 6 oclock & gave me codeine - 3 tablets - at 1 hour's interval. I slept all night. Friday March 8, 1907 In bed all day - but much better. Fannie made the Kimono for "Kiki" & took care of me. Tommy dined with Mr Hurley - stopped in our room when he came home. Calomel to night. Saturday March 9, 1907 Up & dressed to day. Feeling very well. Fannie & I busy with looking through Tommy's things - A lovely day - Paid Sarah $1.50 for the extra washing. Jessie phoned. 3rd in Lent Sunday March 10, 1907 Blizzard - Fannie & home all day. Tommy went out before dinner. Tom after lunch. Tommy packed his trunk & we all dined together. Tom at Club. Monday March 11, 1907 Home until afternoon. Fannie & I went to Vespers. Tommy phoned he would dine down town. We kept the cream until he came - 12 oclock - and had a supper then. Fannie Perkins phoned - she has a cold. Alice phoned. Tom called at Jessie's saw all the family there. Cloudy Tuesday March 12, 1907 Phoned Lena about servant - Tommy phoned good bye to Fannie Perkins. Lena busy all the morning putting things in his trunks &c. A girl has been engaged a friend of Sarah's. We are going to the steamer with Tommy. We went to Hoboken the man lost a trunk off the wagon & we had a dreadful time - It was found & all the trunks taken to steamer Potsdam - it was 1. A.M. when we reached home. Tommy phoned from Hoboken at 1:30 - all right. Wednesday March 13, 1907 Tommy wrote by Pilot & letter reached us by noon. We arranged all his things. Fannie made his room so sweet & attractive. We sent a letter by "Larrie" sailing Thursday. Alice sent me $50.00 - $21.50 for Sarah. Tommy left a letter & $10.00 for me. Jessie phoned. She is ill with gout. Oil cloth down in kitchen & hall. Alice Thursday March 14, 1907 This morning Mary new girl came, recommended by Sarah. Alice phoned & sent me by Franlin $100 - for W.C. Fannie & I went to Vespers. Paid the Feb telephone bill. Tom went to the Club & paid his dues. Fannie & I went to bed. Friday March 15, 1907 Lovely day. Mass at 10 A.M. Met Lena there. Eugene came across the street to speak to me. Mrs Lyon at church. Wrote Tommy - per New York. Saturday March 16, 1907 Letter today to Tommy. Letter to Julia. Paid Egan - Leicht & Brown. Tom went on an errand for me - $125.00 - Simpson. Fannie went to 7 Mass. I went to 10 A.M. Alice & Fannie here in afternoon. After they left we went to Vespers. Passion Sunday Sunday March 17, 1907 Lovely day. Tom went with us to church. In the afternoon Fannie & I went to Vespers. Tom did not come home for dinner at 6:30 & went to bed early. Lovely Monday March 18, 1907 Mass at 10 - Met Mrs Lyon - walked to 83rd st entrance of Park. Fannie & I went to Market. Mrs Krebs called. Vespers. Calomel. Tuesday March 19, 1907 Church at 10. Tom did not come home for dinner. Wednesday March 20, 1907 Mass at 10. Very windy. Home until Vespers. Alice phoned. Lena at church at 10. Wrote Tommy for Thursday's steamer. Miss Denning from "up stairs" called to see Fannie. Thursday March 21, 1907 Letter for to day's steamer to Tommy. Fannie & I went to 10 Mass. Mrs Nichol & Mrs Shirley called the afternoon. Went to Vespers. Fannie P. phoned - we were out. Friday March 22, 1907 Jessie phoned this morning we were out. Alice sent check $25.00. Gave Lena $6.00 to pay Crothers - paid Fitztheau [?]. Fannie paid Guild dues 2.00. I ordered 12 small bottles oil & 1 b E.B. tea Acker Merrall - Alice. Alices birthday Hot 70 Saturday March 23, 1907 Potsdam arrived. I went to 10 Mass. After went to market, met Eugene he told me of Douglas Olcotts illness. I went to Alice's to leave a gift from Fannie & me there. Nellie Loring here for lunch. Gussie Childs came later. Cold & Cloudy Sunday March 24, 1907 Palm Sunday We went to 7: Mass. Father Ritchie blessed & gave the palms - church at 11 - Lena was there. Mary went out at 11 A.M. home to serve dinner. I wrote Tommy for Tuesday steamer & wrote Nellie Loring for May's address in Europe. Monday March 25,1 907 Mass at 10 - I went to Lena's at 3 & met Nellie & Annie McD Alice & Fannie Perkins. Lina went to Vespers with us. Tuesday March 26, 1907 Cold - Cloudy - Went to 7. A.M. Mass. After breakfast I went to Market. Wrote Tommy for steamer Oceanic sailing tomorrow. Letter posted for to day's steamer Kron Printz Wilhem. Lina & Fannie Prouty at Vespers. Eugene went to Albany to see Douglas O. who was very ill - he is better We went to Lina's with her. Wednesday March 27, 1907 Mass at 10. A.M. Walked home with Linda. Church at 3. P.M. Vespers at 5. Mrs Moris came home for dinner. Thursday March 28, 1907 Mass at 7. & at 10. Went to Lina's. Douglas Olcut very ill. Fannie Prouty there. Had a talk with Mrs de Peyster. Mrs Moris came home with me for dinner & went to evening service. Jessie called - in electric. Douglas better. Friday March 29, 1907 Good Friday Church at 9:30 & then 11 & 12 to 3. Mrs Moris came home with me for dinner. Warm - hazy Saturday March 30, 1907 Went to Market & then to see Lina she had news of Douglas very low & left at one oclock with Donald for Wmstown. Fannie Prouty was with her but went back to Philadelphia. Letter to Tommy by to day's steamer. Warm Sunday March 31, 1907 Easter - Church at 8 & at 11. Tom went with us & came back for lunch. Vespers at 4. Alice phoned & Fannie later. No news from Lina. Later Douglas Olcott died at 2 oclock to day. Snowy Monday April 1, 1907 Letter from Lina - written Saturday night. Fannie Tuesday April 2, 1907 Letter posted for to days steamer Kaiser W. de Grosse Wednesday April 3, 1907 Letter from Tommy written on the Potsdam & posted. Carrie Delano here for lunch - we walked on the Riverside. Mrs Fosdick called. Wrote to Tommy for "Lorraine" sailing 4th. Thursday April 4, 1907 Home all day. Alice phoned. Check came to day. Gussie here. Friday April 5, 1907 I had a restless night & could not sleep. Trouble with Mary. Fannie & I went to market. Called on Lena, met Julia Nott there. Paid Tom Egan 2.00 & Forhman $1.20. I wrote to Pauline Olcott. Fannie had calomel. Saturday April 6, 1907 Very cold & rain in the house all day Read a Lady of Rome. Metcalf sent for the parlor sofa to repair it. Sunday April 7, 1907 Church at 7 & at 11. Mary went out at 11. back to cook dinner. We met Mr & Mrs Hawthorne at church & Mrs Lyon. Monday April 8, 1907 Stormy. Letter from Tommy written 26th. I wrote Tommy to day. Kaiser W. de Grosse arrived to day in Cherbourg. Tuesday April 9, 1907 Letter to Tom by Kaiser Wilhelm 2nd . Letter from Tommy written 27th . Jessie phoned Maggie Drum was ill. She has gone to see her. Alice phoned too. Calomel to night. Wednesday April 10, 1907 Letter to Tommy by steamer Baltic. Paid telephone bill $2.20. 24 small bottles Vichy 1 jar cold cream I had so much pain in my side I went to bed before dinner & had milk toast. Metcalf sent the sofa. Thursday April 11, 1907 Gussie dined here & we had a lovely evening. Tom went to Keith's. Friday April 12, 1907 Church at 10. Eugene phone Lena was taken very ill that morning. Fannie told father Burnett. We went there & saw Alice who spent the day there. Dr. Lyle called & sent a nurse. I wrote to Father Ritchie & went again to see Lena. Letter from Tommy well & happy. Paid Mary $20.00. Calomel - 1 gr. Fannie & I. Paid Leicht $25.00. Saturday April 13, 1907 Lena had a comfortable night & is much better. Father Ritchie went to see her. Fannie & I went to Lena's she is still quite ill - has a trained nurse. Alice with her. Very rainy & stormy. Sunday April 14, 1907 Church at 11. Father R. celebrated. After we saw Lena. She was much better. After lunch we went for a short walk, then to Vespers. After that I asked Miss Bradley for flowers from the altar. Met Fr. Ritchie in the hall, he gave flowers to Miss B. for Lena & Fannie & I went there, she was delighted. Howard & John Safford were there, Jack Hildt who afterward came to see us. Monday April 15, 1907 Lovely day. Letter from Tommy written April 5th. Alice's letter & check. Spent an hour with Lena - much better. Fannie & I walked to Riverside. Tuesday April 16, 1907 Letter to Tommy by Wednesday Majestic. Sarah came to day to work. Fannie's face was swollen, we sent for Dr. Lyle who said she had been poisoned by eating fish - bathed her face with soda & water, took Calomel & milk of magnesia. Miss Blenderhem told me Stodarth died in saloon cor 87 & Broadway this morning. I walked to opposite cor waited until ambulance took body away. Carrie D here Sarah here. Cold Calomel last night Wednesday April 17, 1907 Steamer Majestic sailed today for France. Fanny better. Letter from Tommy written Sunday 7th.
