Cold & slippery. Answered West Point letter to send picture on approval it was sold March for $200. Sunday January 2, 1910 Fannie & I went to 8.A.M. Mass. Father B. celebrated 11 Fr R. Murray Young walked home with us. Mrs Macdonald very ill. Kate Dinsmore phoned while we were at Vespers. Mary (maid) out. Monday January 3, 1910 Fannie phoned Kate she could not go there. Kate & Emma here this afternoon. F.F. Tuesday January 4, 1910 Mrs Macdonald died this morning – 72 W. 12 st I wrote Mr M & Murray Young. Tom paid $15 to Berger interest on the emerald ring. Fannie Perkins check for servant $18.00. I gave it to Mary with $4.00 – her wages are $22. Alices check came for $25.00 Cold & snow - awful Wednesday January 5, 1910 Phoned Jessie – she is ill with grip. Billie in bed with cold. Thursday January 6, 1910 Read to Fannie "Beechy" Rainy & very slippery. Friday January 7, 1910 Paid Egan & Whelan $25.00 on account. Gave Tom money for gas range $200 & $3.45 for gas bill. Phoned Altman about changing pink tea gown for a larger one. Lina phoned she was not very well – too cold to be out. Wrote Tom Jr. Phoned B Altman again & they will send for wrapper. Sent to A.M.&C. to send bill for collection 4:17 Finished "Diamonds cut paste" Saturday January 8, 1910 Pleasant. Marie Platt & Polly here for tea. Afterwards Fannie Perkins came in on way to drive with Howard. Paid laundry .98 Tom at "Smokers". Letter from Tom – wrote him. Altman called for wrapper to send a larger size. Sunday January 9, 1910 Last night I was awakened with a severe pain my heart. Fannie gave me nitroglycerine & sent for Dr Lyle who came at once. He gave me nitrog – potash & I remained in bed quiet as possible – until Friday 14th when I sat up. Fannie with me all the time. Monday January 10, 1910 Comfortable night. In bed all day. Tuesday January 11, 1910 In bed – much better. E.M.J. here. Wednesday January 12, 1910 Thursday January 13, 1910 In bed – but very comfortable – no pain. Jessie & Isabel here – brought oranges & silk dressing sacque. Alice & Fannie started for Washington 10.A.M. Tom Jr brought jelly from Alice. Friday January 14, 1910 In bed but dressed later. W.S.F. & Jessie went to Farm 3 oclock. Jessie phoned. Julia not as well. Mrs Lyon phoned. Storm awful. Saturday January 15, 1910 Snow & bad wheeling. I wrote T. & dressed. Letter last night from W.H. Sunday January 16, 1910 Home. Donald & Emma here. Lena phoned she could not go alone to church – thought to phone Tom Jr. Mickie phoned she spent the day at the Farm coasting. All well there & Julia White better. Monday January 17, 1910 Cloudy. Altman returned wrapper – size larger. I paid $10. draft drawn by T. Jr. Alice phoned she had returned form Washington – glad to be home. Tuesday January 18, 1910 Rain & partly clear all night at W.H. Violet Ward here this afternoon. I did not see her. Fannie arranged Tom's room. Jessie phoned they were in town. Wednesday January 19, 1910 Clear & cold. Wrote to W.H. Wrote to Tralstadt 295 Carroll St – for a servant. Fannie arranged Tom Jrs room. Letter from (Thursday) Ricker – about T.'s bill – copied reply & talked it over with Gov. Mary's day out. Alice phoned. I phoned Dr Lyle – "Keep up n.g. & potash 2 weeks more". Thursday January 20, 1910 Lillias here for a cup of tea. Friday January 21, 1910 Rainy. Fannie did not go to Mass. Letter from Pastor Tralsted which I answered & wrote to the matron about a girl to be sent. Tom Jr came home with great difficulty – severe pains in his bowels. Dr Johnson came & ordered a nurse at once. Miss Anderson came applied "hot straps" (?) to the bowels & he was greatly relieved. I phoned Alice & Lina. Fannie & Phin Prouty here. Jessie came about 5 P.M. & saw Tom. Dr J. here. Saturday January 22, 1910 Cold & cloudy rained all night. Tom Jr much better to day. Had chicken broth & orange juice. Lena phoned. Jessie & Alice. Dr Johnson here 2nd visit. Clear Sunday January 23, 1910 Tom much better had ice cream – phoned Julia White – she is better – Eugene called. They all 12 dined with Fannie Perkins last night. After dinner Fannie & I walked up & down. Dr J. here 3rd. Fair Monday January 24, 1910 Dr J. here 4th visit. Tom had comfortable night. I wrote Fannie Perkins about $18.00 for Maid Condon sent a girl. I engaged her to come Wednesday noon. Letter to Wardell about Gov. Father B. here & will come again. Tuesday January 25, 1910 Snowy. Father Ritchie here to see Tom Jr. Letter & check $18 form Fannie P. Check from Alice. Jessie phoned from Will's office. Wednesday January 26, 1910 Cold – rain. Mary left this morning about 11 & at 12 Annie G came $22.00 a month. Mary paid in full $19.78. Tom Jr very much better – ate a squash some green peas. Dr Wardell here – will come Friday. Paid Maria .87 for wash. Dr J. here. Annie Gillen came. F.F. Thursday January 27, 1910 Mrs Joe Osborne here. Fannie saw her. As Nellie Lane was here I did not see her. The nurse – Miss Anderson left – paid her $23.00. Tommy did not feel so well at night & Fannie & I slept in Gov's room. Tommy was awake from 2 to 4:30. Phoned Jessie Clear Friday January 28, 1910 Fannie dressed & taking care of Tommy who is not so well – he wanted to drive the coupe came & only went a few blocks. Felt so ill he came back & Dr J. came. Tommy in bed. The Gov gave me $150.00 from E. pendant. Simpson – Paid Egan $60.00 – Roller $5 – Dr J came at 5 (2nd time today) & said he was better but must keep quiet. Wardell here for Gov. Saturday January 29, 1910 Tom Jr has pretty good night – Fannie & I slept in room next to him. Dr J. here this morning – ordered quiet & liquid diet. I wrote Jessie at the Farm. Sunday January 30, 1910 Pleasant but we could not leave Tommy. Dr J here – finds him improving. Fannie Perkins here. Mr Leicht butcher was buried. Monday January 31, 1910 Cold. Tommy had a fairly goo night. Fannie was a perfect nurse. Dr Johnson said he could sit up half an hour. He had liquids – broths – custard. The bowels did not move & at 6:P.M. he had castor oil. Miss Anderson called. Lena was here. Letter to Tommy form Mrs G. I wrote Julia Munroe. Paid gas bill & butcher's $2.45. Tuesday February 1, 1910 Wednesday February 2, 1910 Cold & rain. Tom Jr allowed to sit up in the parlor almost all day. I wrote Nellie Loring. Phoned Jessie, they came up Tuesday – she had had her nostril burned out & was miserable. Mrs Lamphere phoned. Mrs Johnson baptized – we did not know of it until later. I went out. Paid Maustach $1.15. Hoffman $1.49. Thursday February 3, 1910 Lovely. Tom Jr had a comfortable night & is much better. Mr Gourand & Mr Emerson Foote called to see Tommy. Dr J. here. Jessie phoned. Friday February 4, 1910 Tommy had a comfortable night. Jessie here at 12 to take him for a drive but he was not well enough. I took 1 gr calomel 1/10 every 10 minutes. Lina here & Eugene. Lizzie Agnew – Mrs Martin called & had a nice visit. Jessie will send car Saturday at 2. Mr Gourand called Tom up to lunch tomorrow with them. Dr Wardell here for Governor. Saturday February 5, 1910 Clear & cold. Paid iceman $5.00 on act. Tommy had a restless night – bowels were difficult to move. Cold Sunday February 6, 1910 Home all day. Jessie's auto came & Tom (Gov) & Fannie went for a ride. Fannie Perkins here this afternoon. Eugene & Lina here after church. Annie in. Phoned Alice. Monday February 7, 1910 Very cold. Tom had a restless night. Dr Johnson came this morning to see him – he was up – partly dressed. Alices check for 2 weeks cashed – Mrs G. called to see Tom. Tuesday February 8, 1910 Augusta came in this afternoon. Lena was here, Eugene came in. Tommy sat up until dinner time. The Gov had treatment at Dr Wardells – No 3. Wednesday February 9, 1910 Ash Wednesday Last night about 5 A.M. we sat up with Tommy who had a slight chill & a sweat after it & has had three attacks. We rubbed him with alcohol after that he was better. Fannie paid Roller $10.00 on acct. Gov came home in taxi with Eugene. Thursday February 10, 1910 Fannie was very sick to day & last night too. Casey – dressmaker called paid her $5.00. Fannie went for drive with Tommy – about an hour. Great snow storm Friday February 11, 1910 Jessie here this morning & Tommy went to Dr W. to have a tooth filled. Jessie sent him in her car – she brought several novels for us. Tom Jr went later with J.G. in his car to lunch & went to the Friars – coming home just as the snow storm started. He paid White $10 on acct. Eugene here. The Gov home later. Saturday February 12, 1910 Ground covered with snow. Tommy had good night until 1 A.M. – we made coffee & had a party in his room. Jessie's chauffeur called up for orders but we did not want him. Eugene & Lena here. Tom had treatment Wardell 4th. Tommy dined with us first time in three weeks. Sunday February 13, 1910 Cold & Clear. Tommy had a very comfortable night. No one went to church – at 1:30 – Jessie's car came & Tom & Fannie went for half an hour. Kate D. phoned & came up at 4 with Emma. Monday February 14, 1910 Fannie & I went to Vespers. Father B. called. Tuesday February 15, 1910 Pleasant – Tom Jr out all day – home for dinner. Schilling brought shoes for Fannie 4.50 slippers & shoes. Wednesday February 16, 1910 Cloudy. Schatz & Lena here after Mass. Mr Kelly phoned & Tom went for a drive & afterwards lunched with Mr G & dined with Lina - Schatz – Donald & Emma – Tom Jr paid Ben Lin $2.98 Fannie & I went to vespers. I went to bed after dinner. Thursday February 17, 1910 Stormy. Fannie at 10 Mass – saw Lina Miss Senewoks & Schatz. Tom Jr went out his afternoon – home for dinner. Postal from Alice – she returns from Augusta G. Sunday afternoon. We moved our things into our own bed room - Fannie & I. Wrote Pianola & Milk Man. Friday February 18, 1910 Fannie tried to go to Mass but it was so windy she came back. Jessie phoned she was going to the Farm tomorrow. All home for dinner. Letter from Carrie D. The Gov went to Wardell 5th treatment. Mrs Burnett & Lina here. Saturday February 19, 1910 Very cold. Eugene & Lina here this after noon. I read aloud – awhile – Sparrow hawk. Marion Satterlee called. Tom Jr went out. Sunday February 20, 1910 Fannie & I went to 11 oclock Mass. Mr Young walked home with us. Annie out & we staid home. Tom Jr called up Miss Beveridge & later there called there - both dined out. Alice home from South. Monday February 21, 1910 Rain. Read notice of Mr Gourand's death in evening paper. Fannie & I went to Vespers – raining hard when we came out. Alice phoned Dairy man here – gave Tom $3.12 to pay gas bill – Tom Jr called at Gourand's shocked to see crepe on the door – all home for dinner. F.F. Tuesday February 22, 1910 Rainy. Tom Jr left early to go to Gourand's. Came home for dinner. Alice phoned. Cold Wednesday February 23, 1910 Letter & check $18 from Fannie – letter & cheque $25.00 form Alice – both answered. Fannie resting – too cold to go out. Tom cashed checks for me. Jessie came for me in the big car & we had a long ride. Tom Jr went to the G. funeral – home for dinner. Jessie brought books. Very cold Thursday February 24, 1910 Tom Jr home all day. Yesterday paid $20 on acct. Dairy bill & Annie's wages $22.00. Friday February 25, 1910 Went to Mass at 10. Walked home with Lena – but the wind blew & I was very tired. Saturday February 26, 1910 Mrs Lampher phoned & came here this afternoon we had a nice visit. I went to Mass at 10. Sunday February 27, 1910 Warmer – Mass at 11 – Fannie & I after lunch Tom Jr went out & Tom too. Rainy. I walked a little way with Lina. Monday February 28, 1910 Rain all day. Carrie Delano came here this afternoon & we had a long visit. T. Egan here. Tom Jr dined out. I was very tired & went to bed early. Tom read his new detective story. Miss Bradley here. Rain Tuesday March 1, 1910 Cloudy. Fannie went to Mass 10. Fannie Perkins here this afternoon. Fannie went to Miss Bradley's for white pulpit hanging. Wednesday March 2, 1910 Fannie phoned "did I leave my crescent pin there" We searched every where but did not find it. Thursday March 3, 1910 Very foggy. Fannie at 10 Mass. Emma & Lina here – Fannie Perkins phoned. Ben gone to Canada. Fannie embroidering & I read aloud. Annie (cook) went out & came home about 6 P.M. drunk sent her to bed & Tom Jr & Fannie cooked the dinner. Friday March 4, 1910 Fannie went to Mass – at 10 – After lunch we went to the Drive & were there until five & then to Vespers, coming home found Jessie just coming brought 12 oranges. Saturday March 5, 1910 Lovely. Fannie & I went to the church. Fannie at Mass & this afternoon we went to Riverside. Sunday March 6, 1910 Mr Lillard died this morning. Fannie & I went to 7.A.M. Mass. Fr Ritchie celebrated. Mass at 11. Mr Young walked home with us. Tom & Gov out for dinner. Fannie P. phoned & came for tea. Monday March 7, 1910 Tuesday March 8, 1910 This afternoon Mrs Eccerson here & after wards we went to Vespers. Fine Wednesday March 9, 1910 Fannie went to 10 Mass & embroidery after. Mary Stanley here & brought me a cake. Alice check came, I wrote to her. I phoned Jessie – she comes tomorrow to lunch. Paid Lorhman 3.50. Bakery 4.98 Hartman $5.24 Jessie came in about 6: & said her father would like to drive with us & they came about 7. All home. Pleasant Thursday March 10, 1910 Billie & Jessie here for lunch. In the afternoon Fannie took some flowers (Billie) to Mrs Lyon & later Lena & Eugene came in & we all went to Vespers. Friday March 11, 1910 Fine. Mass at 10 – afterwards I went to P&T for 1 lb coffee for Guild. Tom Jr home for lunch waffles! Home all the afternoon – gave $2.35 to Laundry. Tom had 10th treatment from Wardell. Vespers. Tom Jr dined out. Saturday March 12, 1910 Very cold. Fannie went to Mass. Tom Jr went out to lunch. I laid down all the afternoon. Augusta here with Fannie. Fannie carried flowers to Mrs Lyon who was in bed & couldn't see her. Clear Sunday March 13, 1910 Church at 11. Fannie & I walked to cor with Lena. After lunch we sat on the Drive till time for Vespers. Fannie P. came in & Howard & little Frank (or Frances?) Fannie & I alone for dinner. Men came in later. Monday March 14, 1910 Wrote Alice about selling the chairs & posted it – Vespers in the afternoon. Alice's check came about noon. I gave Fr Burnett (whom I met going to Vespers) the envelope with 4.00 due for Sunday offering. We were very tired & all went to bed early. Tuesday March 15, 1910 Very cold. Mass at 10 – but we did not go – so very cold & windy. Vespers at 5. Mrs Renault & Mrs Ames walked to Hegeman's. Wednesday March 16, 1910 Mass at 10. I walked home with Lena brought two magazines. Fannie went directly home. Jessie called us up. Vespers this afternoon. Lena there we walked home with her. Tom Jr went to Bloomfield home for late dinner. Alice phoned & Fannie Perkins. Tom paid Perceval. Snow Thursday March 17, 1910 St Patrick Day. Tommy home until 4 P.M. Mrs Gourand sent a bath robe to Tom Jr. Friday March 18, 1910 Home all day & in bed. Jessie came with Billy. Fannie talked with Jessie. Tom Jr dined out. Mrs G. Saturday March 19, 1910 Lovely. Mrs Lampher phoned she would come this afternoon. She brought two wrappers & gave check for $30 to pay who took box down. Letter fr F.F. Palm Sunday Sunday March 20, 1910 Lovely day. Mass at 11. Psalms given out. Tom Jr came came (sic) to church to say Herbert had phoned for her to lunch there she declined. Fannie Perkins here for tea. Annie out – & did not come in all night. Lovely Monday March 21, 1910 Annie not home yet. I wrote to her asking to come – but no reply. Emma Edsale here this afternoon. Wrote to Annie's sister to send for her trunk & money. Lena sent a girl here – Gertrude & I engaged her. Wrote Fannie Perkins & Alice. Tuesday March 22, 1910 Girl came with note form Annie who had been sick sore throat & would I take her back tomorrow. I answered no. Fannie sent by special a check for $25. Wages $18 & Alice check came $25. The girl came to day for $20.00 a month. Sent Tom Egan $25.00 on account. Tom met Miss Rainauld & walked to cor with her. Paid gas bill 3.60. Wednesday March 23, 1910 Fannie home all day. Went down to trunks & packed Annie's & sent it down stairs. Later she came with her niece. She was in a wretched state. I paid her $15.54. Tom Hamilton here. Fannie & I alone at dinner. Maundy Thursday March 24, 1910 Lovely day. Jessie phoned they were going to the Farm. I wrote to her. Lilies from Mrs Renault. I wrote to her. Lena phoned. Calomel. Good Friday Friday March 25, 1910 Fannie went to Church at 12 to 1 & Tom Jr went over for a little while. I did not go out. Fannie Perkins here. Howard operated upon & doing all right. Tom home for dinner. Eugene here this evening. Donald has position in Garden City. Saturday March 26, 1910 Letter & check from Alice. She phoned. Sunday March 27, 1910 Easter. Lovely. Fannie & I went to 9 oclock Mass & at 11. Tom came later & had sear in Emerson pew. Tom Jr sat at end of Church. Katy Dinsmore called for Fannie in her car & little Gertrude W. drove to Yonkers. Donald & Emma here. Fannie Perkins dined with Fannie & me. Carrie Ward here. Monday March 28, 1910 Lovely. Mass at 10 & all day we were home. Tom Jr called at Dr Bull's hospital & saw Howard who comes home tomorrow. Alice & Fannie were there & he had a chat with them. Tuesday March 29, 1910 Very warm. Home all day after the 10 oclock Mass. Tom Jr cleaned the statue. Mme Schiller phoned Fannie. All home for dinner. Wednesday March 30, 1910 Very warm – home all day. Thursday March 31, 1910 Fannie went to the trunk room – Gertrude with her. Alice phoned. Jessie here leave Friday for the Farm gave her Easter egg for W.S.F. from Fannie. Friday April 1, 1910 Tom paid Leicht's bill $50 – leaving balance $29. Tom gave Tom Jr umbrella. Gussie here. Fannie was miserable & did not ask her for lunch. Mrs Wiggin phoned about Mary Rogers. Warm Saturday April 2, 1910 Mulford wedding Tom – Fannie went in car – Gov met them there they had fun time. I went to the Drive for afternoon. Sunday April 3, 1910 Church at 10:30. Fr R had 11 oclock Mass. Murray Young walked home with us. Tom Jr too. After lunch H. Satterlee called. Donald & Emma here – left when S. called. My tooth troubled me the Gov bought remedy but it numbed me. Rain Monday April 4, 1910 I wrote Alice thanks for check. Fannie phoned Dr Lyle if gas could be taken when my tooth was extracted "no". Fannie & I went – to Dr White's office – he extracted two teeth I paid $3.00 for it (Tuesday) & gave him $10.00 for Tom's last bill. The teeth did not hurt in the least – when drawn. We sat on the drive all the afternoon. Tuesday April 5, 1910 Went to Dr White's office – had teeth extracted. Spent afternoon on Drive. Wednesday April 6, 1910 I went out with Tom Stopped at Lina's. Met Mr Hogan Tom's friend. Cold. 50 Thursday April 7, 1910 Virgina's wedding day. Tom went to wedding & to small reception – very cold. I sent over my letters (1864) to Mother. Mrs Renault phoned for me to auto with her. Friday April 8, 1910 Very cold & windy. We did not go to Mass. Saturday April 9, 1910 Alice came in her car & we had a visit together. Sunday April 10, 1910 Very windy. Church at 11. Tom Jr met us – walked home with Mrs Rainault Afternoon he accepted invitation from Mr & Mrs Rainault & motored to "Reillys" for tea. Home at 6.P.M. & dined with Fannie & me – Gov not home. Monday April 11, 1910 Clear – pleasant. I wrote Mrs Woodward on death of James Woodward. Tom paid Leicht successor (?) $19.98 bill for March. Fannie cashed Alice's check $25. Wrote thanks to Alice. Tuesday April 12, 1910 Ther. 50 Fair. Fannie went at 3.P.M. with Mrs Rainault in her car to Gun (?) & returned at 5:30 – a long ride. Tom Jr dined out. I finished "Loveland". Fannie called me up. Letter from Kate, will send car at 3 tomorrow. Miss Bradley called. Wednesday April 13, 1910 Ther. 50 Kate came in her car at 2:30. Fannie & I drove to Belmont with her & we came back to apartment. Tom Jr rode to G. tonit [sic] with Fannie & she stopped at appartment [sic] & Tom went on – in car to Belmont. Thursday April 14, 1910 Cold. Went to see Lina & walked to 90th st. Alice phoned. Friday April 15, 1910 Fannie went to Mass at 10. Mrs Lampher here in afternoon. Tom Jr made enquires about pictures. Saturday April 16, 1910 1 year ago today – message from West Haven – Tom went there & Dr Johnson – Tommy taken to hospital. Sunday April 17, 1910 Monday April 18, 1910 Rain Home all day. Alice phoned & sent check. Tuesday April 19, 1910 Ther. Rain Expected Linda but she did not come. Paid Leicht $29.63 – payment in full. Gertrude has telegram from Glen's Falls – "come at once" & will go Tuesday. I phoned Mrs Condon for a Maid. Tuesday April 26, 1910 Gertrude left this morning. I paid her $7.00 all owed her. Mrs Condon sent a girl "Katie" – she will try it a week. Mrs Lampher here. Mrs Tyler called me up – for a party at her house Saturday. Tom Egan here – I hope to do something for him – gave Tom Jr the ticket. Lovely Wednesday April 27, 1910 Wrote Mrs Lampher about China $38 for 12 plates & wrote Gertrude I had engaged a maid & would not take her. Thursday April 28, 1910 Tom Jr had tooth extracted. Gov dined out – took the Howland pictures to sell to Mr --- came home delighted, he sold one $175. Rain Friday April 29, 1910 Express came for Gertrude's trunk. Gov came from Club – said Mr – returned picture – sale off. Eugene here this morning. Alice phoned – she is better. Tom paid $90 to Egan. Saturday April 30, 1910 Home all day. Katie out this afternoon for two hours. I wrote Marie Nobel - & to colored maid Eva. Emma Edsall here. Tom dined out. Tom Jr drove with Mrs Renauld. Sunday May 1, 1910 Church at 11. Lina there Mrs Tyler walked home with her. Tommy had pain in his leg & was in bed all afternoon we staid with him, Cloudy Monday May 2, 1910 Mass at 7. Fr Ritchie celebrated.
