He was born in New York City January 12, 1751. He signed 'his affidavit before Walter JBoone, Mayor of New York City. It was attested by Abraham Leggett and John McComb. He served on the "Lady Washington" in 1777. He mentioned his father's house in Pleasant Valley, Dutchess County, New York. He lived in New York City when he entered the service. He died May 1, 1842, leaving children: John, Oliver and Hannah Glean; and grandchildren: Augustus and Margaret (children of Anthony Glean, Jr., deceased).
