March 30, 1903 New York, March 23. -- George Bossut, butler in the house of Alfred Nathan in East Thirty-second street, has disappeared and $25,000 worth of jewelry belonging to Mr. and Mrs. Nathan are missing. Bossut left this note addressed to Mrs. Nathan: "Madame: - I have taken your jewels, so you need suspect no one else. You always treated me well, I'll admit but I could not resist the temptation. Now, I'll tell you what I'll do. If you keep the matter quiet and don't make a fuss, I'll send you the pawn ticket, maybe, but if you put the police on my heels, I'll stay in cover and get away to Europe, possibly. "Regards to the little boy. "George"
