Hutchins, Supervisor of the First Ward, died last night at his residence, No 58 Joralemen? street of paralysis. He has represented the First ward in the Board of Supervisors for two terms. He was about fifty years of age and leaves a wife and family to mourn his loss. Evening Post New York, NY Sat Nov 16, 1872 BROOKLYN The Late Charles D. Hutchins A special meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Kings county, was held this morning for the purpose of taking action in regard to the death of the late Charles D. Hutchins, Supervisor of the First ward. Supervisor Johnson offered a series of preambles and resolutions expressing regret at the death of Mr. Hutchins, and sympathy with his family, which were unanimously adopted. A resolution was passed to pay to his family the salary which he would have drawn to the end of term. The board then adjourned. The Brooklyn Daily Eagle Sat. Nov 16, 1872 pg 4 OBITUARY Supervisor Charles D. Hutchins At two o'clock this morning, Supervisor Charles D. Hutchins, of the First Ward, died at his residence in Joralemon street. He had been in poor health for some time, but it was not thought until within a few days that his illness would terminate fatally. Mr. Hutchins had been engaged in the dry goods trade in New York for some years past, and was considered to be a capable and active business man. He has never figured in political life except as Supervisor, which office he has held for two terms of two years each. In the Board of Supervisor he has always pursued a straightforward, upright course and gained the respect of his official associates. They will take some action in reference to his death tomorrow. Mr. Hutchins leaves a wife and family and many warm friends to mourn his loss. It was attended by the members of the Board of Supervisors, a few county officers, Alderman Boggs, and the friends of the family. The remains were conveyed to Greenwood for interment. Dingee received a telegram on Wednesday containing the sad news of the death of her only brother, John B. Hutchins, who passed away that morning at Salem, Oregon. A letter received yesterday stated that the death came very suddenly, the cause being heart trouble. The remains were shipped to Wassau and are expected to arrive either Wednesday or Thursday. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dingee. Mr. Hutchins was a commercial man and had often made business trips to Wausau and was well known in this city.
