She was the widow of William Burnham. She was born in Waltham, MA on August 21, 1905 to George Bartlett Willard and Alice Maude Barton. Her life revolved around history, genealogy and books and in pursuit of those passions, she worked as a librarian and rare book cataloger. After graduating from Simmons College she worked at the Hispanic Society in New York and later at the Yale Divinity School, the New York Society Library, the New York Historical Society and the Society of Colonial Dames. She leaves a son Jeremiah and daughterin-law Raun and countless cousins. She lived a full life and will be sorely missed. Published in the New York Times on 8/8/2004. Cartier-Bresson, Henri CARTIER BRESSON Henri. It is with profound sorrow that we note the passing of Henri Cartier-Bresson. For all of us at ICP, and the photographic community at large, Cartier-Bresson was a monumental figure who changed the history of photography and whose profound influence will long be felt. He was a visionary witness to our time; a superb artist who brought to his work unsurpassed integrity and a marvelous celebration of life. Henri's pictures have become icons and will continue to provide inspiration and enjoyment to millions. His lively presence will be deeply missed and we will all be less as a result of his absence. Sarah Lawrence College mourns the death of Joseph Papaleo, alumnus of the College and faculty member from 1960 to 1992. Joe was a prolific writer of memorable, honest fiction, and a teacher of wisdom, generosity and humor. He was a central figure in the development of the Sarah Lawrence writing program, and he was mentor and friend to generations of students. His talent as writer and teacher, his innate decency and his wit will be long remembered and cherished. Sarah Lawrence College extends our sympathy and love to Joe's wife, Tonie, and to the Papaleo family. Michele Tolela Myers, President Barbara Kaplan, Dean of the College Published in the New York Times from 8/6/2004 - 8/8/2004. Rearick, William R. REARICK-William R. Renowned art historian W.R. Rearick, 73, died in Venice, Italy on July 31, 2004. A memorial service was held on the island of San Michele on August 4. Curator of many exhibitions and author of numerous books and articles, he specialized in Venetian paintings and drawings from the 15th through the 17th centuries, and was perhaps the foremost authority on many Venetian artists, including Veronese and Bassano. Prof. Rearick was Prof. Emeritus in Art History and Archaeology from the University of Maryland, an honorary citizen of Bassano del Grappa and a resident of Venice. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Save Venice Inc. since 1993 and was an instrumental figure on Save Venice's Projects Committee.
