Died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, August 25 at the age of 81. He was born in Atlanta, GA, on September 19, 1922, and grew up in Buffalo, NY. He graduated from Colgate University and then served in the U.S. Army Infantry in combat in Europe during WWII. He received a law degree from Harvard Law School in 1948 and was a practicing trial lawyer in New York City until the time of his death. He is survived by his former wife and lifelong friend, Dorothy F. Kimball, his three loving children and their spouses, Pamela Kimball Kenney and her husband David, William Fisher Kimball and his wife Alexandra and Susannah Kimball Rosato and her husband Ernest Jr. He is also survived by his eight beloved grandchildren, Sarah, Alice, Ernest III, Sophie, William, Colin, Lachlan and Aengus. His sister, Jean Hutchinson of Williamsville, NY, also survives him. The burial in Cutchogue, NY, on Tuesday, August 31 will be private. A memorial will be held at a later date in New York City. The 92nd Street Y Board and staff mourn with a heavy heart the passing of David Sacks, our long time Board member, and beloved husband of Marcella Rosen, also Board member of The 92nd Street Y. David's warmth, care and humanity will long be remembered. The entire Y family mourns the loss of David's deep devotion to the Jewish community and the world at large. David joined the 92nd Street Y Board in 1992 and greatly contributed intellecturally and spiritually to our Bronfman Center for Jewish Life. David also spent many years on the Board of Directors of the UJA-Federation serving as the President from 1989 to 1992. (nee Levinson), on Monday, August 30, 2004, age 96, wife of the late H. Leonard Vogel; mother of Dr. Robert (Sharyn) Vogel and the late Janet Vogel Dorfman; mother-in-law ofSharyn Vogel, Paul Dorfman, sister of Dr. Leonard (Irene) Levinson; also survived by five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services and interment private. Sylvia was a masterful New York City school teacher for 35 years, world traveler and an independent spirit. She will be deeply missed by her friends and neighbors, particularly those at 221 E. 78th St., and by her new friends at the Mary Manning Walsh Home where her spunky spirit and candid charm delighted and touched the hearts of so many, especially Bill. An alumna of Western High School in Washington, D.C. Pat came to New York in 1957. She was an active volunteer with the Central Park Conservancy and a founding member of the 200 Block East 78th St. Association which will hold a tree planting memorial for her this fall.
