Died peacefully on August 31, 2004, at age 80, of Parkinson's Disease. Beloved husband of the late Elaine Bierman Kalikoff, father of Beth and Hedy, grandfather of Sylvie, Eva and Natalie, brother of the late Annette Kalikoff Picard, uncle to Lawrence, David and Robert Picard, brother-in-law to Beverly Wein and Kurt Picard, father-in-law to Ray Studebaker and Will Milberg, dear cousin and friend to so many. The board and faculty of the NYU Child Study Center mourn the loss of Roma Koplewicz, devoted wife, partner and friend of Joseph (Joe) Koplewicz, beloved mother of Edith, Linda and Harold S. Koplewicz, Director, loving grandmother to Joshua, Adam, Sam and Alex. After surviving the Holocaust, Roma enjoyed a long and joyous marriage to Joe and together they created a family that she cared for dearly. Roma was passionate about her work as a social worker and was a loving and steadfast friend to many. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Koplewicz and his family. On September 1 at 96 years of age in Tamarac, FL. Formerly of White Plains. Husband of the late Genesse Levine Lipka and the late Sara Weiss Lipka. Survived by his sons, Leonard of Alexandria, VA, Kenneth of Boca Raton, FL, and Robert of Weston, CT. Affectionately known as ``Papa'' to nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Born in Pultusk, Poland in 1908, Morris Lipka came to the United States in 1920. He joined Local 28 of the Sheet Metal Workers Union in 1929 and founded General Sheet Metal Works in 1943. He was vice president of the Sheet Metal Workers Owners Association for many years and earned the admiration and respect of his industry peers and business associates. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 3, at Sharon Gardens, 273 Lakeview Avenue, Valhalla, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
