I Joseph Robinson of the City of New York Merchant being weak in body and of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding (thanks be to Almighty God for the same) but calling to mind the uncertainty of this life and the certainty of death do hereby make ordain, publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) first and principally I Recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God in whom and by whose mercy I hope to be saved and my body I committ to the Earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my Executors hereinafter named and for the disposing of such temporal estate wherewith the Almighty hath been pleased to bless me (after the payment of my just debts and funerall charges) I do give devise and dispose of the same in manner following imprimis I give and bequeath unto my great Grandson Joseph Robinson son of Barns and Margaret Robinson the sum of three hundred pounds current money of New York to be put out to interest by my Executors herein after named untill he shall arrive to and attain the age of twenty one years and in case the said Joseph Robinson shall die without lawful issue before he shall arrive to and attain the age of twenty one years then my Will is and I do give and bequeath the said sum of three hundred pounds unto Margaret Robinson daughter of the said Barns Robinson and Margaret Robinson her heirs and assigns forever. Item, I give and bequeath unto my Executor hereinafter named the sum of thirty pounds current money of New York each over and above their necessary and reasonable charges and expenses in and about the execution of this my last Will and Testament and all the rest residue and remainder of my Estate both Real and Personal whatsoever and wheresoever either in possession Reversion or remainder I give devise and bequeath unto my grand Children Barns Robinson, Joseph Robinson and Peter Robinson their executors Administrators and assigns for ever to be equally divided between them share and share alike and I do hereby order and direct that the whole of my Estate both Real and Personal be sold and disposed by my said Executors excepting my wearing apparell which must be divided among my said three last mentioned Grand Children except also my Books which I give unto my grandson Joseph Robinson the whole of which after the sale and disposall aforesaid to be put out of interest by my said executors untill the said respective Grand Children shall arrive to and attain the age of twenty one years and whereas my said Grandson Barns stands indebted unto me in a considerable sum of money for moneys advanced by me which is charged in my book and whereas my said Grandson Joseph stands also indebted unto me in a considerable sum which I do order my Executors to deduct from their particular parts and shares of my said Estate after the sale and disposall thereof as aforesaid and lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint Andries Abrahams and Leonard Lispenard Esqr. Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby also revoking all former Wills by me made published and declared and do declare this only to be and contain my last Will and Testament. Be it Remembered that on the twenty third day of March one thousand seven hundred and fifty nine Personally came and appeared before me Goldsbrow Banyar being thereunto delegated and appointed John Burnet of the City of New York Esqr. and being duly sworn on his Oath declared that he did see Joseph Robinson sign and seal the within written instrument purporting to be the Will of the said Joseph Robinson bearing date the thirteenth day of May 1757 and heard him publish and declare the same to be and contain his last Will and Testament that at the time thereof he the said Joseph Robinson was of sound disposing mind and memory to the best of the knowledge and belief of him the depont and that his name subscribed to the said Will is of his own proper hand writing which he subscribed as a Witness to the said Will in the Testators presence and that he the deponent saw Andrew Hamersley and Jores Remsen the other Witnesses to the said Will subscribe their names as Witnesses therets in the Testators presence: --- Gw Banyar James DeLancey Esquire his majesty's lieutenant Governor and Commander in Chief in and over the Province of New York and the Territories depending thereon in America to all to whom these presents shall come or may concern Greeting know ye that at the City of New York on the twenty third day of March and on the day of the date hereof before Goldsbrow Banyar being thereunto delegated and appointed the last Will and Testament of Joseph Robinson deceased (a Copy whereof is hereunto annexed) was proved and now approved and allowed of by one the said deceased having whilst he lived and at the time of his death goods Chattells and Credits within this Province by means whereof the proving and Registering the said Will and the granting administration of all and singular the said goods Chattells and Credits and also the auditing allowing and final discharging the account thereof doth belong unto me and the Administration of all and singular the goods Chattells and Credits of the said deceased and any way concerning his Will is granted unto Andries Abraham and Leonard Lispenard the Executors in the said Will named being first sworn well and faithfully to administer the same and to make and Exhibit a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the said goods Chattells and Credits and also to render a just and true account thereof when thereunto required.
