Imprimis, I give and recommend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God my Creator and my Body to the Earth to be buried in a Christain like manner at the discretion of my Executrix hereinafter named, and as touching such Worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with I give and dispose of the same as follows, that is to say, First that all my just Debts and funeral charges shall be well and truly paid and contented out of my Estate in convenient time after my decease by my Executrix. Item. I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Margaret Gibbins my negroe girl called Isabel and all and singular my Estate of what nature or kind soever or wheresoever that shall be remaining after payment of my just debts and funeral charges as aforesaid, the same to be received held possessed and enjoyed by her the said Margaret Gibbins her heirs and assigns for ever. And I do hereby make ordain and constitute my said welbeloved wife Margaret Gibbins to be the sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all former and other Wills by me made ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. Signed sealed published pronounced and declared by the above named Peter Gibbins to be his last Will and Testament in the presence of us; the words (my negro girl called Isabel and) being first interlined: John Richardson, George Yeamans, John Nathn Hutchins. Be it remembered that on the eighth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy two personally came and appeared before me Edmund Fanning, Surrogate of the province of New York, John Richardson "soap boiler", George Yeomans, "Carpenter" and John Nathan Hutchins "schoolmaster" all of the City of New York, who being duly sworn on their oaths declared that they did see Peter Gibbons sign and seal the within written instrument purporting to be the will of the said Peter Gibbons bearing Date the Eighteenth day of November last and heard him publish and declare the same as and for his last Will and Testament. That at the time thereof he the said Peter Gibbons was of sound disposing mind and memory to the best of the knowledge and belief of them the Deponents. And that their names subscribed as Witnesses to the said Will are of their respective proper hands writing which they subscribed as Witnesses thereto in the Testators presence. s/ Edmd Fanning Surr. His Excellency William Tryon Esquire Captain General and Governor in Chief in and over the Province of New York and the Territories depending thereon in America Chancellor and Vice Admiral of the same. To all to whom these presents shall come or may concern sendeth greeting. Know ye, that at the City of New York, on the Day of the date hereof before Edmund Fanning Esquire thereunto delegated and appointed the last Will and Testament of Peter Gibbons deceased (a copy whereof is hereto annexed) was proved and is now approved and allowed of by me and the said deceased having whilst he lived and at the itme of his death, Goods, Chattels and Credits within this Province by means whereof the proving and registering the said Will and the granting administration of all and singular the said Goods Chattels and Credits and also the auditing allowing and final discharging the account thereof doth belong unto me. The administration of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased and any was concerning his Will is granted unto Margaret Gibbons the executrix in the said Will named, she being first duly sworn well and faithfully to administer the same, and to make and Exhibit a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the said Goods Chattels and Credits, and also to render a just and true account thereof when thereunto required. In Testimony whereof I have caused the Prerogative seal of the Province of New York to be hereunto affixed at Fort George in the City of New York the eight day of February one thousand seven hundred and seventy two.
