Will Book Vol. 45 page 443 This is the last Will and Testament of me William Alexander Earl of Stirling, Major General in the Armies of the free United States in North America. I give devise and bequeath all my Real and personal Estate whatsoever unto my dear Wife Sarah To Hold the same to her, her Executors, Administrators and assigns. But in case of her death without giveing deviseing and bequeathing by Will or otherwise selling or Assigning the said Estate or any part thereof then I do give devise and bequeath all such estate or all such parts thereof as shall so remain unsold undivised or unbequeathed unto my daughter Lady Catherine Duer the Wife of the Honorable William Duer, Esqr of the State of New York Tol Hold the same to her her Executors, Administrators and assigns. And I do appoint my said dear Wife together with my said daughter Catharine and my said son in lLaw Willam Duer, Esqr or either of their Executors of this my Will. Alexr Livingston City and County of New York ss Be it remembered that on the twenty sixth day of June in the eyar of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and five personally came and appeared before me Silvanus Miller, Surrogate of said county Ann Brown of the City of New York Single Lady who being duly sworn on her Oath declared that she the deponent was acquainted with William Alexander who was known by the title of Earl of Stirling that she has frequently seen the said William Alexander write and that the name Stirling subscribed to an Instrument in writing purporting to be the last Willand Testament of said William Alexander bearing date the twenty ninth day of January One thousand seven hundred and eighty (the preceding whereof is a true copy) is the proper hand writing of the said William Alexander to the best of the knowledge and belief of this deponent and that she knew Peter V. B. Livingston, William Barber and William Alexander Livingston who are now deceased and was also acquainted with their handswriting having frequently seen them write that their names subscribed as witnesses to the said Will are of their own proper handswriting respectively according to the knowledge and belief of this deponent.
