All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ny/nyfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Betty-Lu Burton bigburma@juno.com June 30, 2011, 10:43 pm Written: April 1, 1843 Recorded: April 1, 1843 Benjamin Starkey Land Deed 1843 Benjamin Starkey to Hosea S Strong FHL film # 0887714 page (can’t read) Handwritten document, no form This Indenture made this first day of April in the year of Our lord one Thousand Eight hundred & forty three Between Benjamin Starkey and Mary his wife of the town of Newfane & County of Niagara of State New York of the first part and Hosea S Strong of the town of Lockport & County of Niagara State N York of the second part Witnesseth that the party of the first part in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars to them duly paid hath sold and by these presents doth grant and convey to the said part of the second Grant his heirs & assigns All that tract or parcel of Land situate in the town of Newfane in the County of Niagara Known & distinguished on a map of survey made by Joseph Ellicott for the Holland Land Company as part of lot number thirty six in the fifteenth Township and Seventh Range agreeable to a plan laid down in the margin hereof and Recorded as follows on the South by Land deeded by Jesse Smith to Thomas Reny fifty eight chains ninety two links on the East by lot numbered twenty five five chains & nined links on the north by a line parallel to the first mentioned line fifty eight chains and Eighty nine links & on the west by lot number forty six five chains & nine links containing Thirty acres be the same more or less With the appurtenances and all the Estate title & interest therein of the said parties of the first part and the said Benjamin Starkey & Mary his wife doth hereby covenant and agree to (can’t read) the said party of second the part his heirs and assigns that the premises above conveyed in the quiet & peaceable possession of the said party of the second part his heirs & assigns they will (can’t read) Warrant and defend against any person whomsoever lawfully claiming the same or any part thereof In Witness Whereof the parties of the first part have hereunto set their hand & seal the day & year first above written Sealed & delivered in Presence of Graham H James Benjamin Starkey {seal} Asa Anderson Mary Starkey {seal} Niagara County Ss On this 8th day of April 1843 Benjamin Starkey and Mary C his wife came before me & severally acknowledge that they had executed the within conveyance & the said Mary C on a private & separate Examination by me a part from her husband acknowledged that she Executed the said conveyance freely & without any fear of compulsion of her husband (can’t read) time appeared Asa Anderson who by me (can’t read) defend said that he resided in the town of Newfane Niagara County that he knew the said Benjamin Starkey & Mary his wife to be the same individuals who made the aforesaid acknowledge & the same persons who are described & (can’t read) the within conveyance Jos T Billah Justice of the Peace Recorded April 1 1843 at 5 OClock PM *There was no map of the tract of land in the margin.
