Y. Nov. 10th, 1900               Notice is hereby given that a Convention of the Lodges composing the Twenty-sixth Masonic District, will be held in Masonic Temple, Utica, N, Y., Thursday and Friday, December 13th and 14th, 1900, at which time R. W. William H. Whiting, Grand lecturer, will be present and give instruction in the standard Work and Lectures, as adopted by the Grand Lodge of the State of New York. The program will be as follows:             Thursday, December 13th, at 8 P. M.   – First Degree. Friday, December 14th, 2 P. M. – Second Degree. Friday, December 14th, 8 P. M.  – Third Degree.   No event of the Masonic year is of more general importance to the craft than the District Convention, and it is strongly urged that each Lodge in the District be represented by as many of it officers and members as can be arranged to attend. The work of a Lodge is always improved by having its officers attend the sessions of the District Convention where each can pay special attention to the work which he is engaged. In this way they derive greater benefit, and are better able to retain the Grand Lecturer's instructions than when a single representative is depended upon to cover the entire subject. The record of this District in point of interest and attendance at conventions is a creditable one, and is reflected by the proficiency of the several Lodges in the Standard Work. It is hoped that a still more generous effort will be made during the coming Convention, to arrive at a more perfect knowledge of the beautiful and simple ritual adopted by the Grand Lodge, as exemplified by our efficient Grand Lecturer. A cordial and fraternal invitation is extended to all Master Masons in good standing to be present at this Convention. Lodges at a distance should, if possible, provide for the expenses of at least one representative. Please acknowledge receipt of this communication and advise me at the earliest date possible, of the arrangements by which your Lodge will be represented. Thanking you for past favors and trusting to be able to greet you December 13th and 14th. I am Fraternally yours, EDWIN HUGHES D. D. G. M.   ===================================== Additional Comments: Thanks to John S. Wilkinson of Rome, NY for this transcription.
