Mrs. Walter J. Hughes
   Mrs. Walter J. Hughes, 64 of 45 Elm Street, New York Mills, died Oct. 5, 
1952, in a local hospital after a brief illness.
   She was born June 16, 1888 in Utica, a daughter of Thomas and Jane Davies 
Jones. At the age of 14 she moved to New York Mills with her parents and lived 
there the remainder of her life.
   Mrs. Hughes was a member of the First Methodist Church of New York Mills.
   On Oct. 16, 19113, she married Walter C. Hughes.
   She leaves her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Phillip Wolff, Saranac Lake 
and Mrs. Emery Vanderland and Mrs. Robert Doyle, both of Utica; three sons 
Thomas W. Hughes, Clayville; Walter C. Hughes, Jr., Utica and Arthur R. 
Hughes, New Hartford; 14 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
   The funeral will be at 2 Wednesday from the home, with the Rev. Frank T. 
Bennetts, New York Mills Methodist Church officiating.
    Internment will be Wright's Settlement Cemetery, Rome.
