Hughes, 90 ROME-- Owen W. Hughes, 90, formerly of ROme and FLoyd, died Friday in the home of his daughter, Mrs. George (Ellen) Moppert, Lake George. He was born in the Town of Lee, son of Thomas and MAry Hughes. He married MAry Jane Griffiths in Rome in 1918. SHe died in 1945. He operated a farm at Cleveland Corners until the land was taken for Griffiss AFB in early 1940's. SInce then he has been in semi-retirement. He lived for 18 years in the Town of Floyd with his son, Edwin G. Hughes. Mr. Hughes was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church and had been a member of Wright Settlement Grange for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Holstein Fresian Association for about 23 years. Besides his daughter and his son, who lives in Holland Patent, he leaves a sister, Miss Jennie A. Hughes, Utica, and a brother, Walter Hughes, New York Mills. The funeral will be at 2 Tuesday from the Prince & Boyd Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and to 9 today ad tomorrow Additional Comments: .
