John N. Brown, one of the oldest and best known ministers in the Northern New York Conference, died in this city at 4 o’clock this morning as the result of a cold contracted at the recent camp meeting of the conference at Trenton, which was too much for one of his advanced age of 84 yrs. He was born in Vermont July 9, 1815, and after receiving his early education at Rutland, took a theological seminary course. He was first licensed to exhort in Sheldon, VT, in 1837 and received his first appointment as pastor of a church at Durhamville, NY in 1848. After that he filled the pulpits of 23 different churches in central New York. In 1880 he retired from the ministry
