Day died at his home in this place at an early hour Sunday morning. He was the son of Adonijah and Sophia Day and was born near this village. He was a farmer by occupation and a successful one. Mr. Day has been a life-long Republican and has held public offices as the choice of that party. He served as town clerk for two years and subsequently was elected a member of the board of supervisors. He served on the board during the years 1880-1884 and during the year 1882 was chairman. Mr. Day had the reputation of being a most painstaking and thorough member and he endeavored to make himself acquainted with all the details connected with the duties involved by his office. In 1877 he married Mary Young and to them were born three children, Nellie, Harriet and Walter, who are all living. He has been in failing health for some time. Last summer he took a trip to the Adirondacks in hopes to recover, but only found temporary relief. He was 59 years of age. Besides the relatives named above he left two sisters, Mrs. Chester Thorne of Windham, Green county, and Mrs. Theo. Beckwith of utica. The funeral will be held at his late home at 3 pm on Wednesday
