Rome Sentinel January 3, 1899
Taberg - John Hughes, an old and respected citizen of this town, died at his 
home, one mile north of this village on Sunday morning, aged nearly 75 years. 
The funeral was held this afternoon from his late residence at 2 o'clock. 
besides his wife he leaves one son, Willis, who lives at home, and one 
brothers, R. G. Hughes of Summus.
