Vanderland Rome Robert S. Vanderland, formerly of Deerfield and Whitesboro passed away July 12, 1997, at University Hospital, Syracuse. He was boron July 28, 1947, in Utica, the son of Sidney and Margaret WIlson Vanderland. Bob was a graduate of Whitesboro Central Schools, class of 1965, and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Viet Nam. Mr Vanderland was a 28 year employee of NYNEX. He was a member of the Whitesboro and Deefield Fire Depts., and was awarded the Theordore N. Vail Medal for Noteworthy Public Service, and was named the Oneida County Fireman of the YearBar, for the rescue of a woman from a fire in 1971. He was a life member of Remsen Memorial Post #982, V.F.W. and American Legion Post #1376 of New Hartford. Surviving is his wife, Pamela Matavielsko Vanderland; son, Robert A. of Olorado; daughters, Krista of COlorado, JOanne and Deanne of FLorida, and Susanne of Rome; five grandsons; two granddaughters; and his brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Leslie of Barneveld. Bob will be especially missed by his grandchildren, Jordan and Michael. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the J.W. Dimbleby Funeral Home, Forty Main St., Whitesboro, with Rev. A. Loper officiating. Internment will be in Grand View Cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours hours are MOnday from 4-8.
