His wife was Ariadne Soper. I Meritt Pond of Camden in the County of Oneida and State of New York being of sound mind and memory yet sensible of the uncertainty of human life do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say I give and bequeath to my wife Ariadne S. Pond twenty five acres of land and buildings lying in the town of Camden and in the County of Oneida to her and her heirs now and forever, Bounded as follows, north on the Mexico road, West on one Sylvester C. Pond deceased, South on Horace Dunbar, east on the land undivided part now owned by Meritt Pond. Further after paying my debts. further more I give and bequeath to my wife Ariadne S. Pond all of my personal estate to her and her heirs now forever except one third of the stock on my farm. Further more I appoint my wife Ariadne S. Pond guardian over Walter M. Pond and Edward A. Pond until they become eighteen years of age. Furthermore I appoint my wife Ariadne S. Pond superintendent or overseer of the remainder of my old farm supposed to be twenty five acres the same more less for to support and bring up to this age mentioned above. Further more I appoint my wife Ariadne S. Pond overseer of seventy five acres of land an undivided part with S. Osborn in Camden on Scribes(?) Palin(?) lot No. 40. After being sold then to divide equal to my six children to be theirs and their heirs forever. Further more I give twenty five acres of my farm the same more or less to Amos S. Pond, Purnett Pond, Maryett Soper, Francis Pond, Walter M. Pond, Edward A. Pond divided as follows: Amos S. Pond fifty dollars, Maryett Soper fifty dollars, Francis Pond one hundred dollars. After schoolling and bringing up the two youngest boys to the age of eighteen then the remainder to divided by giving Purnett two hundred dollars and the remainder to be divided equal between the two youngest boys. Further more I give to Purnett Pond one third of my stock of cattle to be his and his heirs forever and I do hereby appoint Ariadne S. Pond my sole executor of this my last will and testament hereby annulling all former wills testaments and devises by me made. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 12 day of April in the year eight-hundred and fifty six.
