The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. *********************************************************************** Oneida co NY Will book Vol. 22 page 329 Camden, NY Will of HARVEY BARNES, 1814-1871 I Harvey Barnes of Camden Oneida County N.Y. being of sound and disposing mind but being mindful of the frail and uncertain nature of this transitory life do make ordain and declare this my last Will and testament viz. 1st After my debts & funeral expenses are paid I give and bequeath unto my wife Ann Barnes in lieu of all dower and allowances of in & to my estate; during the time she shall remain my widow, the use and occupation of my homestead farm and all its appurtenances provided however that the produce of the East meadow containing about six or seven acres is to be offered for a period of two years after my decease to the payment of my debts. I also give and bequeath unto my said wife Ann two Cows and one Shoat, and all the fowls which I shall have on my said homestead farm above mentioned my said wife to have her choice of said cows. 2. Immediately from and after the decease of my said wife or in case she shall again marry immediately from and after such marriage I give and bequeath my homestead farm to my three sons William Henry[,] Daniel Potter [Patten?] & Zopher Pliny in the manner following, viz. The farm to be sold or if they prefer, to be appraised at its cash value and Zopher Pliny to have one third less three hundred dollars and the balance to be equally divided between William Henry & Daniel Potter. 3d I give and bequeath to my son William Henry three hundred dollars as compensation for labor and services performed by him for me since he has been of the age of 21 years. 4th I give and bequeath to my son Alvinzo [?sp] that certain piece or parcel of land containing about 14 acres being the same land bought by me of William I. Kniffin, and I hereby direct my said son Alvinzo not to attempt to remove or in any way interfere with the person known as Marin alias Commodore [Commodore William Mervine?] and of his occupancy of that portion of the above bequeathed premises of which he is now in possession & which he claims to own. 5th I give and bequeath to my son Alvinzo one red Cow being the same one purchased of William Roberts. 6th I give and bequeath to my son Daniel Potter that certain piece or parcel of land in Camden containing about 40 acres being the same land purchased by me of one Johnson. 7th I give and bequeath to my son Zopher Pliny that certain piece or parcel of land in Camden containing about 26 acres bought by me of Albert Tracy . I hereby appoint my friend Samuel Lewis Smith executor of this my last will and testament and hereby direct and empower him to sell my personal property not specifically bequeathed and to pay my debts therefrom and to take all legal and proper means to carry this will & testament into effect. I give & bequeath the residue of my property if any there be to my son William Henry. Rome in the County of Oneida on the 5 day of September A.D. 1871 Selden Munson testified that he was well acquainted with Harvey Barnes deceased and had been for the last 50 years & immediately preceding his death; that he died in the month of August last past, at Camden in the County of Oneida which was his last place of residence and of his death; Samuel L. Smith ..testified that he was well acquainted with Harvey Barnes deceased and had been for the last 30 years & immediately preceding his death; that he died in the month of August last past, at Camden in the County of Oneida which was his last place of residence and of his death; Witness, Joseph S.
