I, George Gardner, of the Town of Verona in the County of Oneida and State of New York, being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life, do therefore make, ordain, publish and declare this to be my last will and testament, that is to say. First, after all my lawful debts are paid and discharged, I give and bequeath the use of all I possess to my wife Jemima during the term of her life. Upon the decease of said wife, I give to my son Ichabod W. eight hundred dollars, the remainder of my estate to be equally divided between my children: George N., Ichabod W., Thomas O., Mary A., Elizabeth M., Ellen A., Franklin and Edwin J. My son Thomas share to be laid out in land or as my Administrator shall see fit for his personal benefit. The principal cannot be spent for debts of his or his family's contracting. It can only be spent for his use in case of sickness. After his decease if he leaves lawful issue that issue to receive what remains of his or her fathers share if they live to be twenty one. If he has no child that lives to be twenty one, then it shall be equally divided between his brothers and sisters. Likewise, I make, constitute and appoint my wife Jemima and my son Ichabod W. to be executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal the 8th day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty.
