Stuart Oneida Co NY Will Book Vol. 3 page 13 The Last Will and Testament of Edward Coffin, Deerfield, Oneida, NY 1824 In the name of God Amen - I Edward Coffin of the town of Deerfield in the County of Oneida and state of New York., do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say - First, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Sibel Coffin her honourable maintenance, the use of the house, the beds, bedding, and furniture during her life until after her death, then an equal division of the beds, bedding, and furniture be divided between my seven sons or their heirs. I do also give and bequeath to my beloved wife Sibel Coffin the sum of fifty dollars for her use during her life. I do also give and bequeath to my second son Jacob Coffin two hundred dollars more than an equal share with the rest of my sons. I do also give and bequeath to my granddaughter Anna Howe fifty dollars. I will and order that at the expiration of four years after my death, each of my seven sons, to wit, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, John, Abraham, Edward and Benjamin Coffin, to share equally alike in the residue of my property. And lastly I do all the rest I hereby appoint my sole executor, Sherman Wooster, Esquire and Jacob L. Sherwood. On witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the fifteenth day of July, 1824. In presents of David Herendeen Stephen Van Namen Jacob L. Sherwood (signed with an X) - Edward Coffin Be it remembered that on this eighteenth day of August in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and twenty-four before me Joshua Hathaway Surrogate in and for the County of Oneida came David Herendeen one of the subscribing witnesses to the will of which the foregoing is a true copy on record, and being duly sworn did say that he saw Edward Coffin the Testator in said Will execute the same and that he heard him declare the same as and for his last Will and Testament and that he appeared to be of sound and disposing mind and memory at the time thereof, and that this witness with the other two subscribing witnesses signed their names to the same in the presence of the Testator and in the presence of each other. (signed) Joshua Hathaway The people of the State of New York, by the grace of God free and Independent: to all to whom these presence shall come or may concern send greeting: - Know ye that at Rome in the county of Oneida before Joshua Hathaway Esq. Surrogate of our said county the last Will and Testament of Edward Coffin late of Deerfield deceased (a copy whereof is here unto attached) was proved and is now approved and attended of by us, and the said deceased having whilst he lived and at the time of his death goods, chattels or credits within this state by means whereof the proving and registering of said Will and the granting administration of all and singular the said goods, chattels and credits and also the auditing, alloting and final discharging the account thereof doth belong unto us, the administration of all and singular the goods chattels & credits of the said deceased and any way concerning his will is granted unto Sherman Wooster and Jacob L. Sherwood Executors in the said Will named, they being first sworn well and faithfully to administer the same, and exibit a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the said goods chattels and credits, and also to render a just and true account thereof when thereunto required.
