I Jacob Kellogg of New Hartford, County of Oneida and State of New York taking into view the uncertainty of human life and being of sound mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Elizabeth _______ one hundred & fifty dollars. To my belove [sic] daughter Catharine _______ [Andrews?] I give and bequeath fifty dollars. To my beloved daughter Amanda P____ I give and bequeath one hundred dollars. To my beloved daughter Cynthia Williams I give and bequeath one hundred and fifty dollars. To my beloved son George Kellogg I give and bequeath the sum of two hundred & fifty dollars. To my beloved daughter Maria Kellogg I give and bequeath the sum of four hundred dollars and in addition thereto I direct that she shall have a decent and comfortable support out of my estate during her natural life if she remains single and unmarried and in case she shall marry that her maintenance shall be no longer chargable upon my estate but she shall in that case have out of my estate such _______ [setting?] out as has been usual to give my other daughters as a marriage portion. I direct also that in consideration of the faithful service rendered in my employ by George Lee that he have a comfortable and decent living and support out of my estate during his natural life or so long as he chooses to remain upon the farm where I now reside. All the rest and residue of my estate both real and personal I give and bequeath to my beloved son Josiah S. Kellogg whom I name constitute and appoint sole executor of this my last will and testament (and whom I charge to see fulfilled according to the true intent and meaning thereof) hereby revoking all other and former Wills by me at any time heretofore made. Witness my hand and seal this 27th day of April A.D. 1838. With the exception of one or two other words that I was not entirely certain about, I believe the transcription is accurate. Again, this was transcribed from the SAMPUBCO photocopy of Jacob Kellogg Will as recorded (with statements of witnesses) in Vol 6, p. 191 et seq, Oneida County wills.
